some people tell me they are the same, some say the opposite...

anyone know the truth of the matter???

and what would the equivalents be?

 

Which products are you referring to out of their line?

I can tell you that I've heard a few people say that Z-8 and AW give very similar results... AW is just a LOT cheaper!!!

Well a comparison of some of the products off of the top of my head would be.

Z5/Z2
Duragloss 101/111/105

Z7
Duragloss 901

There will never be any actual facts for any of the is XX the same as YY debates and or relabeling debates. Only assumptions and perceptions.

That being said ... 105 and Z5 definitely share some similar qualities ... but 105 dusts upon removal unlike Z5. They probably aren't the same but are similiar in one way or another.

 

I have used both and can see where some people may say they have some similarities but I can assure you that THEY ARE DIFFERENT. Both are very good sealants with Zaino being my favorite. This topic has been discussed many times before if you do a search on some of the other forums and it always comes back that they are different.

I absolutely see dusting when removing Z5...

 

I talked to the DG brothers last summer on this..and they assured me they are not the same...They are friends with Sal as they have talked on occasion..but the sealants and other products are not related..just have similarities...

So if they telling me the truth ..which I presume they are...DG does not make any Zaino stuff. they just share similarities...

The make up in both products are a poly base. Two different companys...

 

correct....since both DG brothers are chemical engineers they made a nice product...and Sal must have a engineer also to help develop his products..they may use top grade ingredients..that's why so similar...

Being one that started a thread about this on another forum, my final stance is that the similarities are staggering when you really start investigating it. I finally came to my own conclusion that if in fact they are the same then Duragloss is a less concentrated version of Zaino. The Duragloss line has almost every equivalent product that Zaino has, so it does make you wonder. How ever due to trade secrets we will probably never know the real story. Another item for the conspiracy theory debaters to chew on!

 

Somebody is manufacturing Zaino stuff and if it is that good as people say it has to be a major company. I do not think there are that many around.

Of course they are going to tell you they aren't the same. There are agreements to prevent such things from happening.

There are similarities, that's all anyone knows.

 

I live within easy driving distance of DG and asked about getting a plant tour for some detailers here. They said no for confidentiality and safety reasons. I am sure they make products for other companies (can be complete custom formulas) but we will never know.

The problem is the brand mystique would be diminished if the truth was known who makes (blends) Z since we knows it is not just about the product. Of course, they may use multiple sources.
