So today i had to work a local car show/ national event. The car make is not important Lets just say they are a bit expensive. We had a booth set up in the Concourse prep area. There were about 20 cars that have been prepping for days for the Concourse Event and judging. I have never seen so many things that made my jaw drop. Let me run through them for you. Now keep in mind we are a distributor for a large Quality (not top of the line but good stuff) detail supply company and we had lots of stock on hand for the guys that may need it. Keep in mind these people were prepping their cars for Concourse judging. 1. Turtle wax brand was a huge hit. I think one guy (with a very expensive car) opened the Turtle Wax catalog and ordered one of each. 2. Pledge being used as wax 3. Tire covers, not wheel covers. They actually covered the treads of the tire all the way around. 4. Swirled paint EVERYWHERE!!!:thud: 5. cars falling off of jackstands (luckily no damage) Now for the best one of the day. The area that was chosen for the prep area was the lowest level in a underground parking garage. To get a feeling of the amount of light step into your closet and light a match. So on to the story that almost led me to revoking his keys. So the owner had spent 2 days picking over this car with every tool known to man. It was extremely clean. Problem was the paint had bad swirls. So he got talking to another owner about what to do to get the swirls. Dont mind the booth 10 feet away with actual detailers that are there to help. The fellow owner gave him a home mixed concoction to rub on by hand and buff off. I thought nothing of it until i saw him putting ALL OF HIS WEIGHT on the MF in order to buff it off. That is when i got curious and decided to go and see if i could help. Now if you are standing please sit down. The home mixed formula was P21s paint cleaner mixed with I tried to tell him how to properly remove them and even offered to do it for free with my own supplies but i think since i am young (compared to him) and the fact he got the suggestion from another old guy he was offended that i told him what he was doing was incorrect. He got irate and tried to show me how well it was working. So i let him keep going at it with the metal polish. What is wrong with people :thud: :shakehead:

I was at a clients last summer to detail his Corvette. It was a late 90s with dark blue paint and tan top/interior. Apparently only one or two in Canada. Any how, I had been out the summer previous and done a two stage correction. After washing I noticed the paint was swirled, badly. I told the owner when I was done, I would show him a few things to keep from swirling the paint so we didn't have to polish it every year. He was totally offended. He said he KNEW how to wash a car properly. After I gave him the bill for my time I heard from a friend of his that he won't have me back as I'm getting too expensive. Hmmmmm.....
I go through the same thing man, guy had a nasty scratch on his fendor and he was looking at it with a shocked face and was all like "oh, **** what am I going to do?!" so I went up to him with a flier and said "don't worry sir, I think I can fix it" but because I'm 20 and look like I'm 17 he says "oh ok, thanks" and throws the flier in the back seat and drives away. Some people just fail in life.
