Anyone use a PC to apply your sealant/wax? When using a liquid do you put the product directly onto the pad or do you put it on the paint and pick it up as you make your pass?
Directly onto the pad. Last thing you want to do is mar the paint with a dry pad when picking up the product as you make your pass. Heck, I would just advise you against applying either with a PC, but it does let you achieve a nice thin coat. Just make sure you prime the pad first with a mist of QD.
That makes me curious Ozzy... as in I wonder if I can take a non-mechanical pad such as a black/white Edge foam pad and take it to my paint without causing any marring. I mean, the sole purpose of the black/white Edge foam pad and similar pads is for LSP application so you wouldn't think that it would cause any marring whatsoever. Guess I'll have to figure that out on my own, hehe.
I've only noticed marring once from applying products with the PC. Due to some suggestions on another board, I tried Opti-Seal on a black LC pad, got some marring, not doing that again. Other than that, using the PC for LSPs works great for me, if anything I think you are *less* likely to marr the paint when applying LSPs with the PC because there is no chance for you to apply excessive pressure like you could with a foam applicator which could cause marring.
There are a lot of people who apply lsp's with a pc or equivalent without issues. I suspect the real risk is if the pad has some debris in it.
