You can do it. It is very easy to do as well as the brakes. Every Mustang I had the first thing I did was change the gears except for the Cobra. I am curious though on why your swapping the gears. Are you planning on taking it to the strip? Btw, it will eat more gas. But who cares, you'll have more fun doing it!! PS. Are you both laughing at what I think you are?
Maybe taking it to the 1/8 mile drag strip soon. I've always wanted some 4:10 gears. Its a n/a car. I've read that it wont hurt the gas mileage all that bad. Oh well if it does lol. Possibly.
Hum, its an 05 GT. I ordered it from Ford. 64,000 on the clock. Bassani Exhaust. Cold Air Induction and SCT2 Programmer.
Sounds similar to my mods to engine/exhaust. Magnaflow exhaust, CAI, and SCT2 as well. Will be upgrading my fuel pump to a Ford GT supercar pump shortly. But you're probably way faster than my 4 door, 4000 pound Lincoln LS. With my mods I can probably only hold my own against a stock GT. What did you see for gains with your SCT Xcal tune? With all my mods combined, I probably have only gained 50-60 hp. But that's pretty good from only having 252 to start with.
Hey Pete. The gain would probably be around 20-25hp from stock. To get the most gains would be to have it dyno-tuned but I'm not spending that kinda money on that. The canned tunes will work just fine for me. I looked into those Lincoln LS cars several times. They're some nice cars. The FORD GT is one sweet car. Twin turbos and they're amazing!!!
How hard is it to re-gear? I just got a Grand Marquis and was told I could upgrade to the Vic Police interceptor gearing. But I've never done a project like that before.
