Hey guys!! Just got a delivery from UPS!!!!!! I ordered some parts off Amazon (Brake Pads) and Baer Decelarator brake rotors and FRPP 4:10 Ring n Pinion from Blue Oval Industries!!! Should have the brakes done in a week or so and then later get the gears installed. Hopefully it wont hurt my gas mileage too bad!! I only drive with in about a 30 mile radius if that much.
Had them on my 04 Goat with DBA rotors and they were so nasty I had to powdercoat the rims graphite grey
Nice! Wish I could gear up my Lincoln LS. It has an 8.0" pumpkin, so the 8.8" gears don't work . What I was able to to was get rid of the open diff. I was able to pull an LSD carrier out of an 05 mustang GT, and swap it into my case. just had to reuse the ring gear and pinion (3.31's). Nice brakes too. I have Rotorpros drilled/slotted rotors (centers painted black), and ceramic pads. Also have Stoptech braided Stainless Steel brake lines. I noticed a significant increase in brake performance. Oh, and I also went to Motul DOT4 synthetic brake fluid. You doing the gear setup yourself?
Hey Pete!! Thanks. No, i'm not even gonna try a gear install on my own. I will have a set of 3:55's when i'm done though hint hint!! hahaha
Haha, I don't really want to tear into the diff again quite yet. The crappy part is no stock 8.8" gears will work in the smaller 8.0" case. Leave it to FLM to make it difficult for me. Did you get rotors/pads for all 4 corners?
Yeah. I got all 4 rotors. Blue Oval Industries had them on sale. $299 for the set of 4. I ordered the pads on Amazon and got the free ground shipping. Upgreyyed was intentional. This movie called Idiocracy has a pimp named Upgreyyed in it hehe.
I would but man, I just dont wanna screw that up. Its my only ride. I'd just feel more comfortable with someone thats installed a ton of them. I'm scared I'd get it out in the road and start hearing the dreaded whine!!
I hear you, just giving you are hard time. On a serious note it really isn't that hard. You are going to put your own brakes on though, right?
Yeah it's not very difficult, but if you don't have any previous experience with it, you are probably better off spending what... 150 for someone else to set it up? Cheap price for peace of mind. And on brakes, if you can change a flat, you can do the brakes.
