Los Angeles-The man who is credited with turning WD-40 into a household name has died. John H. Barry, 84, died of pulmonary fibrosis on July 3rd at a nursing facility in La Jolla, Calif. Employees of what was then the Rocket Chemical Company in San Diego were selling their rust preventer out of car trunks when Barry joined the company in 1969 as president and CEO. WD-40 was used to coat missles but consumers used it to lubricate everything from bicycle chains to fishing reels. Barry suggested renaming the company after its product. This is all the mention this American Legend received, buried in the back of the Biz section of my local rag. What would we have all been using if this man wouldn't have come along to loosen up those stubborn nuts & bolts.
it sucks. i mean who doesnt have a can laying around to use on squeaky doors or rusty nuts&bolts. Its a staple for any car and/or home owner.
WD-40 The WD stands for Water Displacement and the 40 stands for the the number of recipes they went through until they where happy with it or until they got it right...:thumb:
