Just a good ol' country boys opinion here but...

I suspect that Swissvax does have different formulas of Divine, designed BY or in cooperation with, car makers from different countries... Therefore, the marketing is not untrue, the "Itallian" version was designed with input from Ferrari, the German, with input from MB (and/or BMW???)... Now none of this means that the German formula will not work as well on a car made in a different country at all, just that it was designed in cooperation with makers from that country.

Just like most of us have different opinions about what wax looks "best", some love Souveran, some say it's so-so, the people at the different companies would certainly come up with different formulas

As far as "is it worth it?" - that's another personal opinion (my dad always said, "opinions are like @ssholes, everyone has one and most people aren't interested in everyone elses")

Personally, I don't believe there's any way that a $2000 wax is 10x better than a $200 wax, but I can believe it's "some" better and that it would be worth the extra to some people to have "the best."

I could definately see the value of using a very high dollar wax if I detailed professionaly and worked in a high end market. It would be much easier to advertise that I use Divine or Vintage, than explain to someone that's I want to pay me big $$$ for a high end detail that there's not "that much" difference. I suspect if the guy down the street was offering it, they'd go there.

Ahhhh. Like the 100% carnauba wax from P21s!

It's a little too literal and bordering on insulting for anyone with an IQ higher than 54 though.

Sure, sometimes marketing gets to the insulting stage... personally, I don't find this (or the P21s claims to go quite that far. The one that annoy me the most are the that find a subtle (or not so subtle) way of insulting competing products in a less-than-honest way. I think System 1 comes pretty close, there are a lot of times the imply that all other polishes are less safe and less effective. I don't mind you telling me how great your product is, even if some of your reasoning is a little off, but telling me I shouldn't use another product because it's "bad" pisses me off. If your product is really that much better, you don't have to spell it out , for example, you won't find Swissvax or Zymol telling you how much better they are than Kit or TW.

    I know what you mean.
I got banned on another forum for calling out a System 1 guy. He had less than zero product or automotive paint knowledge, yet was preaching like a prophet about "other products" negative aspects when compared to Shitstem 1.

$20 bucks says it's Chemical Guys Pro-Polish Plus with a slight reformulation that adds a larger diameter abrasive and heavier silionce content. Masking isnt repairing!

Claims are just that, claims. Proof is in the pudding. When I see 34 posts from respected detailers on various sites displaying successful details using ONLY System One as advertised, I'll start to believe. Right now, knowing what I know, the claims are too far fetched. I wont bash, I just wont buy.

Watch it fade into oblivion before you know it. Poof, its gone!

I think System One is more in the pad design than in the compound it uses. If you have their pad which is actually made by Edge which is a wool cutting pad one side and a finishing pad on the other I could produce the same results with just about any polish such as PO106FF. JMHO

It is just a moderate strength compound with diminishing abrasives. A course pad to remove the sanding scratches and a fine pad for finishing. Nothing special.

I feel the same about the "G" product! They are WAY hard sell and claim five years protection. First, Five years isn't gonna happen. And, why would I want to sell something to my client that is going to give me a detail once every five years???!! I've got an ex-wife to support!!!!:yikes:

I think back to the SV Divine, they were formulated back in the day when paint was a brand by brand issue. It is the assumption that Japan cars have thing and soft paints, Germans have thicker and hard paint, and ext. Today with the amount if paint companies and cars being built half way across the world from there home country none of this matters. It could of been true that FOA helped create a wax for Ferrari on the older paint systems and now it does not matter but they just keep the same names and market it that way. SV wants money, and they know that people who buy Ferrari's that many of them want to be exclusive and feel like they are special so why not sell them a special wax for there special car, I would if I was SV.

A Carnauba wax doesn’t form a molecular bond with a paint surface. It sets-up and forms a ‘shell’ type covering over the paint.

So it makes a difference what paint mfg it ‘sits’ on, how?

So why does no one knock Dodo Juice?!?! They make waxes that are "supposed" to work better on different colors, i also find that hard to believe. To me thats marketing BS too. IMHO Dodo does the exact same thing as Swissvax and Zymol, which is claimed to be just as good, but i tried both and Dodo just does not bead, sheet, or protect as long as SV.

I am by NO means a chemical engineer, but here is my take on waxes. If I'm spewing entirely wrong information please forgive and (gently) correct me.

SwissVax is similar to Paul Dalton in the fact that their products are SUBLIME like Paul's work, but I'm sure that they've marketed themselves extremely well also. The difference between SwissVax and Mother's/Meguiar's/TurtleWax? The quality. We ALL knock the "Big 3" every now and again -- but the proof is in the pudding. They've been able to market themselves to the top of the food chain even though there are considerably better products on the market. ANY of us would love even a fraction of the market from the big 3.

And onto the waxes themselves. I kind of divide my waxes into four main categories when testing them.

    1) Shine -- This one is solely based on the glow, depth, and shine the wax gives the paint
    2) Application -- Does the application effort warrant the results (RBOE can be a PITA to work with, but is my current favorite wax)
    3) Beading/Sheeting -- How tight are the beads and how well does it sheet water.
    4) Durability -- How long does it "appear" to bead/sheet, and how long can I tell before the sheen is gone?

With the cheaper waxes, they're usually made to be easier to work with, but may not provide the same glow and durability of a more expensive wax. Then there are some more inexpensive waxes which last FOREVER (not really) like Collinite, but don't provide the look of RBOE/SuperNatural.

I kind of view the lower end waxes as sort of a zero sum system, but as you get higher up, you get more of all the categories across the board. I'm in love with the Sheeting of Scandic's new Insignis, but I really question the durability. If it lasts a long time and may not be so easy to work with -- I can live with that. But if I shell out for Divine or Crystal Rock, I expect it to last my lifetime, practically apply itself, provide the depth and glow that it does, and cook me waffles on Friday mornings.

So I may be entirely wrong, but that's kind of how I look at waxes. If I'm wrong, crap. If I'm right, sweet! As for the different waxes on different colors, I can see how maybe a slightly different formulation might help bring out the flake in a darker car vs a lighter car. I have no idea. It's 7:30AM and I haven't had my coffee yet.

    Man, do I love waffles.
