Right, so as many of you guys know I'm at college now, and I've been under a lot of stress, not just from school but from family and other stuff that's been going on. Anyway I was working on an English paper when I realized that I hadn't eaten much today, and that I was starving. Since I had not managed to accomplish anything in 45 minutes I decided to drive to Chick-fil-a and get some food, as I'm tired of college food all the time. (One thing stressing me out--I think I have ADHD, we have a family history of it and I cannot get any work done anymore, I can't focus and it's really freaking me out.)

Anyway so I got there and was sitting in the drive thru, and in a parking spot right by the drive thru there was a huge handicapped Chevy conversion van. I heard it start and thought that surely the lady driving it wasn't gonna try to back out...she would hit the back corner of my car. She started backing out and since there was only about 10" of space between her van and my car I didn't have any time to do anything. She bumped my car so I honked and pulled out of the line and into a parking spot to see what had happened before she drove off. I got out and it didn't look too bad--a scuff mark but that was it. She just waved and drove off.

So I got back to campus (fuming) and got out my ONR to clean up the area and inspect the damage. It's not too bad, a scuff mark right behind my driver's side wheel. (I swear that corner of my car attracts damage, a year and a half ago I bumped that same corner into a tree in the dark and had to have the bumper repainted.) It's not the damage that bothers me too much--my car is a daily driver and I track it so I know stuff like this is prone to happening. It's the stupidity and inconsideration of the other driver that pisses me off. She saw me pull up behind her when she got in the van so she knew I was back there. She couldn't wait the 30 seconds it would take for the line to move forward for my car to get out of the way, and when I pulled out of line she didn't even bother to stop and see if she had damaged anything. I was standing there staring at her, it was obvious she had done something.

I guess if she had stopped nothing could have happened, I don't think the police would be too thrilled about being called about someone bumping another car in the parking lot, the scuff isn't hardly noticeable from a few feet away and she probably would have just told me to shut up and left me there. Maybe I'm blowing this all out of proportion, but I'm freaking out with stress as it is right now and this was not something that I needed to happen right now.

    Anyway, pics...

    Right after it happened:

There appears to be a very small crack in the paint as well, but that could've been from there being filler in the bumper from the repair done after I bumped that tree. Anyway, maybe I should have got her insurance number and all, but something makes me feel like it would have been a whole helluva lot more trouble than it was worth. And this is more motivation for me to buy paint correction stuff :D

Sorry for the rant. Things are crazy right now. I'm off to write that paper, I'm so tired of James Joyce -_- English professors sure know how to ruin a good book for you...

So sorry this had to happen to you...
The lady was obviously a moron or something for not stopping and offering to fix your car.. Can you remember her license nbr? Does that food place have a camera out there that they can look up the time and possibly get her license nbr for you?

It looks like a little rubbing compound or a polish will get this off the paint. I hope it didnt do damage behind this area to say a fender brace or something....

I know, there are absolutely brain-dead people driving out there anymore, and unfortunately you had to be close to one...

It makes one sick to have this happen, but hopefully tomorrow, you will feel better..

    Good luck with this.

I agree. I'd be pissed as well. She was backing up so its her responsibility to make sure there is nothing behind her. Looks like the scuff should polish out when you have the time. Time to thin out the gene pool.

Yeah, I had a guy do the same a few years ago, he tried to drive off, but luckily a guy in a dairy truck backed out at the same time as him and crushed the truck of his car........ plus it was on tape.. LOL

    haha gotta love karma...

...Rusty, I know how you feel. I went to school in Philly and had my car bumped multiple times....it got to the point to where it didn't bother me anymore b/c it was happening so frequently....really kind of liberating haha. somebody even ripped the front license plate and plastic box type frame off the car from backing into me...found it a couple days later in the parking lot.

Sorry to hear about the bump. Some people are just inconsiderate. BTW, That will buff right out.

When I took my car to college, many years ago, the car had no door dings by the end of the semester it one door was starting to look dimpled. To most people are car is car and a way of connecting A to B.

    Chick-Fil-a is yummy.
