So yesterday I went out to the hills for the 4th time in a little over a week(FUUUN!). It was PERFECT conditions for boarding, warm enough that you didn't freeze your butt off but cool enough that the snow didn't turn to mush. Little bit of snow falling, it was the perfect day; until I hit the skiout with my cousin. Its a nice little cruise out, wide cat trails down the mountain to the parking area; the perfect way to end a day of boarding. I get part way down the hill when this hillbilly child comes flying off the side of the path and totally takes me out, knocking me over the edge.....now I don't remember much from here on, but my cousin says I went off smacked my head and kind of slid down a ways....OUT COLD, and a broken helmet...it literally cracked down the center!! While I'm out, apparently the kids dad started yelling about it, flipping out that I got in his kids way(WRONG, the kid was sitting on his butt on the side until i was RIGHT beside him!).... It all turned out ok, mycousin drove me to the hospital in Banff after I got a ride down the hill on a snowmobile. Slight concussion and one HELL of a headache there today....ok, end of rant.
It's storys like these that make me consider wearing a helmet... I'm not worried about hurting myself, it's all the other people... Glad you are ok, sounds like the helmet did it's job and saved your melon!!!
haha yeah, i think the helmet might have saved me from a pretty serious injury. Those trees aren't all too forgiving! You're all too right though, I don't worry the helmet so much because I'm worried about bailing myself, but because of the other people out there who are clueless. I saw all too many of them out there this past week.
Yikes, glad I skiped the snowboarding this past week. But seriously, I know what you mean it happens all the time your going along snowboarding, wind hitting your face and then all of a suden someone cuts you off and BAM!!! Man I hate that. Glad to hear you made it out okay buddy, hope you feel better :thumb: So what did the dad have ato say after? Did he say anything?
I don't really remember what the dad had to say, once I came to my Cousin was still chewing him out for trying to yell at me for his sons mistake. I was pretty out of it, I don't remember a ton until we were in the banff hospital.
Hospital was actually great! I had a VERY nice nurse. I'm sure they get lots of ski hill related related patients in there.
That might be putting it conservatively. Aussie accent, model looks, and VERY nice. Sure waseasy for her to make a sore guy smile!! Heck, a guy might make a b-line for the trees is he know he'd get to be looked after by that nurse!!
Oh I've seen a share of those..man I agree I'd be in the hospital all day if I was single again lol..teasing.
hehe i'm going to head out tomorrow again....I'm afraid i'm going to have to try and stay away from the nurse this time though...
