hello all, i used power lock for the first time the other day and was super super impressed easy on easy off and the slickest feel i have ever felt. anyway o applied with a blue DI pad and the pad will not get clean. i used my normal wash of hot water with a little mf cleaner and some opt apc. and it did nothing switched to opt apc at 1.1 and nothing...figured i would try some cg wash and clear full strength to the pad ...nothing....any suggestions?
Have you tried soaking them over night? Ive had some pads after using some 3m that wouldnt come unstuck and I presoak them in a mixture of Grim Reaper APC about 1 to 5 overnight, and about every bit of the LSP was gone in the morning
After using Power Lock, remove foam pad from your machine, immediately place it in a bucket of water with a d-limonene (citrus) based cleaner (P21S Total Auto Wash or Optimum Power Clean) to keep the products from drying in the pores. When you are ready to clean them, rinse well, re-wash and leave to air-dry Velcro side up on a grit guard or drying rack Most polymers are formulated to be detergent proof, PL most than most, which should bade well for its durability
The other thing I have had success with for products that are a Bear to get out of pads is to liberally spray them with Dawn power disolver and let them soak. That stuff is very, very strong...use gloves with it.
I now have a dedicated blue CCS pad for my 845 because a 24 hour soak in some ungodly dilution of Dawn and water did nothing to pull 845 from the pad.
i had a bottle of citrus power degreaser siting around and that took care of it. but if this stuff is this hard to get out of the pad our cars will be protected for months
i need to get some of that Dawn Power Disolver . . . . . do you really need to wear gloves when using that stuff or what?
If you are using this product (a strong degreaser) regular inspection of the Velcro backing is in order as it could be compromised over time
