My rims need some attention. I have been hand polishing them with M105/M205 for awhile now. However I want something to really bring back the original spark that these rims had. The clear coated polished lip has been lacking as well. This is what I am working with: I read somewhere that P21S Finish Restorer would work good for this. I already have a tube of that... I was under the impression that it was metal only product? I am also getting a Girots' Polisher from DD soon. Should I order a 3" backing plate with some 3" pads and try that? Not sure if I could fit the polisher around the spokes very well even with the 3". Any reccomendations would be great!
If you are using a machine with a small pad you can use something like JW prime on them, followed by JW AJT. it will bring a nice glow to them. you could also use something like Klasse AIO and follow up with 845. for me wheels that are painted I like to treat them like the rest of your paint on my ride. once they are sealed they are a lot easier to maintain also.
Oh, I do seal them. My normal process is hand polish with M105, M205, Glaze, Seal. I am mainly wondering if anyone knows/think I can get a 3" polishing pad on these spokes. JW Prime and JW AJT, huh? Will have to look them up. Thanks!
I have used a 4 inch pad on my PC and can get the wheels that look similar to yours. one word to the wise is to run at a slower speed and have a good grip on your machine. I like to use the edge of the pad for most of the work. this way the worst thing that can happens is your pad edge catches something. what you do not get wtih a machine you can do by hand as it still does a nice job . the JW stuff is similar to Klasse aio and sealant except I think it adds more gloss without being quite as brash imo. polishing will get the wheels free of defects but when i add the paint cleaner the finish has more of a sparkle on metalics or glow to it on other colors. below is a pic of before and after with a wheel that I cleaned regular apc mixed 3:1 and some prime applied by hand , with nothing on top of it. for this Nissan I would have used the machine if the customer wanted the full package that I offer. if you are washing your wheels on a regular basis you can hand polish them them top with DG aquawax and use it every time you wash , right before you dry them. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/flatsticks/IMG_0180.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/flatsticks/IMG_0193.jpg
