I have always used Menzerna PO85RD with a Black Pad. Would there be an advantage using it with a white pad? I don't really notice a huge change with a Black pad. I am thinking the following: M105 w/ Orange or Yellow depending on condition M205 w/ White 85RD w/ White Glaze w/ Black Sealant w/ Blue
You will get more cut with a white pad. But since you are using 105/205 I would prob say go with either black or blue pad if you want.
I just recently polished the car with Mother's Rubbing Compound, followed by Mother's Machine Glaze, followed by PO85RD. When i got the car under some heavy lights at a show, I could still see some etched water marks. Was gonna go back to M105/M205 and move PO85RD up to a white pad to make sure I got everything cut out. What about following up a 85RD/White with 85RD/Black as a second pass?
Hey man I suggest you invest in 203S or 106FA to replace M205. You most likely wont need to do the M105 compounding stage at all (since I know your ride and how you keep it up) if you get either of the two I mentioned. M105 Uber Yellow or Uber Orange or Hydrotech Cyan 203S or 106FA Uber Green or Hydrotech Tangerine 85RD Uber Blue or Uber Black or Hydrotech Crimson
What might be of better help is to get some better lighting, so you can spot these defects, before you do all the work and take off for the show. Even the Brinkmann hand held light that has the LED's works great and is portable; they also make a dual halogen light that has an AC and cigarette lighter I believe, and it helps a lot when you put either one of these up close to the paint to help spot defects before you finish the work. According to Menzerna USA's chart, PO85RD Final Polish has a cut of 1, and a gloss level of 5. PO106FA Super Finish has a cut of 2.5, and a gloss level of 5. Base on this, I would think that PO106FA would do a better job of removing last minute defects, and still finish down to the highest gloss level Menzerna quotes, which is 5. Dan F
