I know there is a general amount of clear coat applied to cars that have a 2 stage paint job and a certain amount that can be removed before the clear is considered damaged. I have often wondered if there is a book or do the dealers have a sheet that will give a more detailed description of the mils applied and suggested removal amounts. I know that the book would be huge and if you needed to contact every manufacturer it would take a life time. Just curious what your thoughts are.
TOWGT had a general guideline just like this in the detailing school... and yes I am too lazy to find it and give you a link lol...
different manufacturer and different paint is different. ceramic clears are very hard and usualy readings not as thick as on regular clear. MB and VW with ceramic clear read about 90-100 and id say extremely hard to correct. to point when you have to use rotary with wool pad and powergloss (m105 dries out too fast and usually not practical as i found from recent VW GTI job)
I use a PTG but I was just hoping someone knew of a place I could get the info because I know that each car manufacturer has their own specs. Wishful thinking I guess. Thanks for the input
