I made a spreadsheet of most of the things I will be buying, I know I need to get a good wheel brush and cleaner for the pads, but is there anything else? Also the detailed image PC starter kit comes with 6.5", but I was reading and saw that 5.5" were better, should I just buy the PC there and get the pads somewhere else? Also this is mainly just for me, I bought the car in Nov and haven't been able to give it a real detail. In the future I would like to be able to do friends cars and such, but know I'm not there yet since I've never done a detail as in depth as some of you guys here. nice order. a few comments: i know everyone has a budget, but with an investment like that why not spend the extra $150 and get the Flex ? have you thought of using SIP and 106FF instead of IP and FPII. most ppl prefer the former from what i can tell. if you call DD i assume they can swap out the 6.5 w/ 5.5 and still give you the deal. and yes, you'll find the 5.5 to be easier to use and provide better correction, much better choice for a newbie.
Thanks Haper, I was kinda thinking the same thing, but part of my decision(its not final yet) was to get the PC, and then eventually have it as a 2nd tool, and my primary be a rotary? Or do you think just getting the Flex for now would hold me over longer as I think when I go Rotary, it will be the next "big step" where I get an extractor, CRSpotless Water De-Ionizer, and a few other things.
When we had a detail day here I got to get my hands on a Flex. My first words were "oh I like that." Then I got my hands on a rotary and that's all she wrote. The Flex's size is very similar to a rotary so making the transition wouldn't be that big of a deal. Go with the Flex to start with then pick up a used PC as a secondary tool.

In reguards to your foam gun, i have one question, it is my understanding that you need to haveit hooked up to a pressure sprayer or is that not true? If so that may be another expense
I do have an older pressure washer I believe some sears, so I wasn't too worried about it. Think an extractor might be too much at first for a hobby? Especially if I'm looking to buy a house in the next year.
It really depends how much your budget is and if you're willing to invest that money into your new hobby. Personally, I'm kind of in dire need for an extractor, PTG, and CRSpotless at this point in time but they'll all have to wait until I get some more jobs to fund them.
Thanks Denzil, I was kind of thinking that as well, since I will be doing some on the side, I figure if it would make it easier and faster, I should probably get it haha Also I forgot I had a pretty big wet/dry vac in my basement, which is only a couple years old, so I guess I will use that and see how it works out. If you don't mind me asking, how many cars do you do a month? Also are they usually a wash or a full detail? If you want you can pm me the info.
Well, it the family fleet alone we have seven cars so that keeps me busy. Plus I do some family-friends' and friends' cars so that keeps me busy as well. I do a lot of washes for the family so the majority of my jobs have been washes. There's a local car show going on tomorrow that I'm preparing for so I suspect the full details will be picking up very soon. :applause2:
