Just thought I'd post some pics of the new shop. I was supposed to be in Oct 1 but problems with the landlord caused a 9 WEEK delay. With any luck everything should be done and be up and running by Jan 5th. This is what the shop looked like on Oct 20th. Unfortunately it still lokked like this Nov 30th. This is the compressor that is in the room in the back. Guess I'll be getting some air tools as the landlord is leaving it here. The demising wall the landlord had to install. 60' x 24' and it only took 4 days to frame it, board and tape it. A few walls framed up. Some of the landlords stuff still visible. This drives me nuts! The electricians apprentice mounted these. Because of this I had to remove and reinstall 3 outlets to get them all at the same height. 24 4ft T8 flourescent fixtures for the detailing bay. Little storage room for day to day stuff Bathroom and office ( crap on roof of office is landlords ) Detailng bay. The entrance is 15 x 15 then widens into 20 x 20 Office looks a little different with all the landlords crap out of there. To show how big the bay is, I put my fullsize van in there. Had a bit of time so I went to the local wand wash and rinsed off my Passat. It had 5 coats of Werkstat Carnauba Jett on it and after rinsing I only had to wipe down with Poorboys Spray & Wipe. I was hoping to use my ONR but the car was almost spotless. I did use my Optimum Spray Wax on the front end so I could see how well it would do in the snow we have coming. After two coats it was shiny as hell. Spray on and wipe off. Dead easy and looks great. Supposed to last 5 months with one coat. We'll see.
Very cool Ken, I can't wait to see the end results. Man I wish we could get something like this setup and running here in SA.....maybe one day
Set up looks great :cheerl: Just curious, is there a drain inside this bay unit? That compressor looks great, what size is it? Look like it will have plenty of power to power some air tools too. Keep us updated on the shop, I do enjoy seeing shops being built up and of course final results :thumb:
I really wish there was more of these in my area, the ones I do have are already full and theres no sign of any one letting them go. I could use one for double purpose, for detailing, and mechanical work
Sorry Bud, no drain. I'll consider it when I buy the building next year. It'll be about $5-6k to bust up the floor and redo it. As for the compressor, I'm not sure of the size but right now its supplying air to three units so I'm sure it'll do what I need! I know what you mean. We have a thousand of these units in our business park and right now only 5 or 6 are available. Period. Thats why I had to bite my tongue and wait for this one.
wow sucks there is a shotage in your areas. around my shop we have like 8 units open. all with 1500plus sq feet. roll up doors, i have room for about 4 cars in my bay plus show room
wow....that's awesome. Around my way they just built new Units literally 5 minutes from my house and I thought about renting one for storage and the occasional detailing side jobs but there's a detailer already in one of the units -_-
That's sweeet. Can't wait to see more pics when it's cleaned up and set up. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
the lordland said that he doesn't want two different detailing business competing against each other in his unit lot because then if one loses business to the other detailing shop something might go wrong.
Nice place Ken. Hopefully you will have the shop bursting at the seams with work!! Dude..2 things I see currently missing: 1) Beer fridge 2) Tunes 3) Humidor (optional) God Bless.
