Between those two, you made the right choice. My mother has a Captivate, and there's a lot of stuff I don't like about it. Stupid stuff. The GPS antenna is really very poor - I see this complaint on androidforums.com a lot, and it's true. My DX will get a lock in seconds while her Captivate either searches for a long time, or gives up looking altogether. I also really hate where they put the power button, on the side of the device. When you grasp the phone in certain ways, it's really easy to lock it with this button by mistake. I don't care for Samsung's UI, either, although that's pretty easy to change since it's Android. There's a lot to like though, especially its battery life. It's a hell of a lot better than that of my DX. I think you'll love your iPhone. I loved my 2G and 3G, and would have gotten a 4, but wanted something different.
Has anyone rooted their Froyo? I was contemplating on doing it so I have more control over my device. I still have some research to do...
just got my Droid X this passed sunday =) took me 3 friggin weeks to decide which carrier and phone i was going to anchor down with. 1st gig with VZW very pleased so far. Been out of the "smartphone" scene for 7 months, a lot has changed.... Droid X FTW =) :headbang: *****edit 9-30-10 VZW BOGO offer ends get a Droid X and pick an additional VZW phone for free.
I am going to say yes its worth it, though since you're on the DX you cannot take full advantages of rooting since the bootloader is still locked. Back to topic Congrats on picking the iphone 4 I hope you enjoy it

The iPhone comes with Apple's warranty, which is second to none. They'll pretty much break it as long as the screen isn't cracked. One day, I dropped my phone and broke something internal, the screen wouldn't turn on but it would still make sounds. I took it into the Apple store and 5 minutes and one signature later I was walking out with a brand new phone. My friend even broke his 3G phone, and since they were out of stock of the 3G, they gave him a 3GS instead. You can extend the warranty to 3 years I believe, and if you put a silicone case on that sticks out past the screen you'll greatly reduce your chance of breaking it. I got this one for $12 off of ebay. Accidently drove off with my phone on the hood, realized two miles later that it was there and luckly the case was grippy enough to stay put. iPhones are sweet, really they only lack flash and turn by turn gps to me which sucks but everything is so straight forward The app store is simple and is second to none Just a good overall phone, if gone though the 2G,3G,3GS, and soon will upgrade to the 4 soon You will enjoy it By no means am I an apple whore, I just like the iPhone
Every iPhone I've had is built like a rock, my 3GS is 2 years old, never had a case, and droped more times than I can think of corners screen and all, ya it's got scoffs but keeps chugging just like the day I got it
the specs/features between those two phones are pretty close. came down to screen size and handling of the handset with my bear claw hands and fingers.
