Got a Nikkor 55-200 lens from Ty(lifemal) recently and had a chance to try it out.

haha Ken, enough is never enough for you. Pictures look great though! Your pictures made me REAL close to getting a D3000 during a blackfriday sale

Nice! I just picked up one of these today myself. Next I'd like to get a super wide angle lens.

Ken..isn't this community awesome? I am getting the same lens for my new Nikon from a fellow DB'er as well. Looks like you got the hang of yours really quickly. Did you try, for shits and giggles, to turn off the VR on those long shots to see what difference, if any, it makes? Just curious.

Nope. Maybe tomorrow morning if I remember. And if I can figure out where to turn it off! LOL

Out of curiosity, how do you like the 16-85?

The cost of the 16-85 + 55-200 is really close to the cost of a 18-200 (VR not VRII) which is what I've been looking at. Unfortunately Black Friday claimed me and I have a 55-200 coming my way.

The reason I got the 16-85 was because my shop is only 15' wide and if I put the car dead center in the shop, it allows me to take pics from the side and get the entire car in the pic. Awesome lens. Going from 18 down to 16 was the difference between getting the car in and not. I really want a macro lens as I enjoy taking pics of things REALLY close up and another zoom lens.

I haven't got an SLR with interchangeable lenses but my Canon SX10 has a Super Macro feature that is awesome. Get yourself a dedicated macro lens, you won't be sorry :headbang:
