Ok, so I just spent 4 days doing my version of Clark@Polished Bliss's "Ne Plus Ultra" detail process on my girlfriend's Mazda 6. For those of you who may remember, it was bought BRAND new last year, and as soon as she bought it, I spent 5 days detailing it from interior protection to clay and full correction to Swissvax while she was gone to the beach for a week.

Well, a year has passed, and she has been on a cruise w/ her fam for the last 10 days, which has allowed me to gradually work on bringing the finish back to flawless! I had so much fun correcting it. It is non-metallic black, which is a PAIN to get per4fect, but when it is, oh my, it is unreal to look at in direct sun!

SO...After 4 days of correction I washed the car off with P21S TAW mixed w/ Adam's Car Wash to remove all polish oils. Then I applied 2 coats of 1Z glanz wax leaving 48 hours betwee coats for the 1st coat to out-gas. (Btw, 1Z glanz has outstanding durability and looks exactly like Zaino but maybe even better!).

NOW, my question is, I want to apply a 3rd coat on the paint, but I want to use Swissvax Smaragd. Do you think this will bond right to the 1Z ( btw, 1Z contains polymers and carnauba wax). I will let 24 hours for the 2nd coat to out-gas, but I want to apply a 3rd layer of protection, but I want the warm look of SV, because now it has such a cold shine, I need some warmth to the finish to top off the durable 1Z coats.

Also, What shampoo should I use to maintain it. THinking about 1Z perls and DODO BTBM, but I am wondering if Meg's Shampoo Plus would be wax friendly? I know the SV sure doesn't last long here in Greenville, the rain is pretty harsh on wax.

    thanks for the advice!

You could apply a third coat of 1Z, but I personally feel there is not need for a third coat of sealant, you can just apply 2 layers (12-24 hours apart) of carnauba wax...
As far as maintaince, you can use 1Z perls, Dodo Juice BTBM, Megs Shampoo Plus, or MS Ultra Gloss. I prefer 1 oz of Ultra Gloss+1 Z of Shampoo Plus, this was I get the slickness of shampoo plus, and that extra gloss from Ultra gloss...

Can I ask why the wait time for Carnauba wax?

for the coat to cure to maximixe durability...not that its that necessary...

I know that Swissvax needs 24 hours to outgas before the next layer can be applied. I just assumed be safe and do the same for 1Z glanz wax.

so TOGWT, you think I can add a layer of SV Smaragd?

you should be ok adding majority of canauba waxes ontop of your 1z.
if you want the warm and wet look have you thought of topping off with megs show car glaze?
the curing times are a bit text book really with wax, most should cure in 10-15 minutes and should be at its peak before removal after an hour then after 1 hour your good to go with another coat IMO.
ive done quite a few and found a 12hr + cure compared to a 1hr cure is marginal.:thumb:

Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss shampoo is my go-to for maintenance washes. Super slippery, suds for days, and it smells good too. It's like washing your car with a bucket of nice quick detailer.

OK, so I applied a layer of Swissvax Smaragd tonight on top of the 2 layers of 1Z, and O WOW! It is exactly the look I was going for, the depth is unreal and it glows with such warm vibrant colors, but also has nice reflections! I am so satisfied with this combo!

Ok that makes it clear, as Carnauba wax dosen't form a molecular bond (cure) like a polymer needs to. Once its 'dry' and the solvents have outgassed you're good to go

    Carnauba wax
When applied to a surface will not adhere properly on its own, solvents and miscible oils are added to enable it to spread evenly to the surface. Natural and synthetic waxes initially adhere by surface tension; the balance of the adherence process is that it works its way via the carrier system (solvent and / or oils) into the microscopic gaps and valleys of the paint film surface thereby creating a mechanical anchor, a wax does not form a covalent (molecular) bond to the surface.

in that case how long does it takes for solvents to outgas? Or does it depends on wax?

Allowing a Carnauba wax or Glaze to set-up for 45-60 minutes (see manufacturer’s instructions on specific products) is usually more than sufficient, this will allow the solvents to outgas, which will be dependent upon ambient temperature / humidity

ok so If a paint is perfectly corrected meaning no gaps and valleys such as swirl, will the natural carnauba not have an "anchor" to hold onto? meaning natural wax on a perfectly leveled clearcoat will not last long?
