my mom received a Cannon D40 DSLR camera for her birthday and she hasn't really used it for what it was designed for or used it much period. (got it in June) all of the pictures come out like any other $100-200 digital camera and even the disposable ones and im wondering who has this camera and what setting do you use in VERY bright sunlight, and sunsets. also whats a good editing program on a windows XP machine? im more or less taking over the camera, especially when im going to start detailing in the next few weeks after my supplies come in the mail. anyone? Bueller?
The secret is do not like the exposure setting on the camera be the one you use. You have to be prepared to go in manual mode and make adjustments. The exposure is determined by where you point the camera. If you point it at the sun, the camera will try cut the light way down so they come out dark. The opposite happens if you point at something dark. Be mindful of what your camera is reading when it does the exposure and override. Many people bracket sides (over and under expose around a setting) to be sure to get several shots and then chose te best later.
Had any better luck shooting recently? Is it a Canon or a Nikon? Canon makes a 40D not a D40, Nikon makes the D40.
