Nano/super sealant users-long term reviews/B&As?

The character limit killed this title I know. :shrug:

I wanted to reach out to any one that has used any of these "super/nano" type sealants (e.g. Aquarts, Cquarts, Opti-Coat).

I'm curious if your results can back up the manufacturer's claims of protecting against maintenance wash marring and if you are seeing the durability that was promised.

If you have any long term experience this would be a great place to share.

Pictures are a bonus too.

I am NOT asking about application - this is strictly long term results.

 

what do you define as long term? I am at 3 months, and I wash my STI almost every week, sometimes more(maybe 20 washes since initial application) I use Chemical guys citrus clear, and 90% of the time its more foam, dwell and hose off. then top with V7, its still going strong..... so figure its accelerated the life span by half for the average person.

Honestly, it has diminished the level of wash induced marring, also I hit one of my fenders with a drop down power cord about a month ago, it smudged it, but did not scratch. I am satisfied with the performance, most of my issue was the "buffing" stage where I marred several places and had to remove it.

It sheets water like crazy, but I get that annoying water spotting, I have had to literary wipe down my car my car with vinegar twice.....it did not even phase it. So when it comes to the water spotting and application IMO its a PITA, and I will not purchase it again.

 

Was this the Aquarts, CQuartz or OptiiCoat? (or something else?)

 

I have Cquartz on my wife's GTI and Opticoat 2 on my Mini and havn't noticed any problems with water spotting. All of the water used to wash goes thru a CRS filter though and I use the Metro sidekick to dry them. The Cquartz has been on for 8 months now and it still beads like crazy. Nothing sticks to it and the paint is swirl free. I don't know if I would top the Cquartz with anything other than Reload though. From what I have read topping it with a wax or sealant defeats the lotus effect.

 

I would say 3 months at minimum is long term as that is a base number many "high durability" LSPs work for.

Opti-Coat tried and proven. Years worth of durability, I believe the test is at 2 years now.

 

Cquartz..........

 

allot of guys are using different products as QD on Cquartz, I don't consider V7 a true sealant........ but I get what you are saying, I was actually getting the spotting when I had not put anything over the c quartz....... I don't always do a wipe down, sometimes i wash the car and walk away. Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I was using reload I did not have any issues with spotting. Also it was from rain, and in Central California we have some heavy fall out from the ag industry.
