I'm getting sponsored (or entering a partnership with) by a detailing company. I'm very excited about this! I was browsing google one night a few weeks ago for detailing shops in St. Louis and came across a local company who sells their own products. I searched through their products and decided to email them. Because they were located in an industrial park, I assumed they didn't have a "store front" where I could visit and look at (smell/touch) the products. So I asked if I could come out there and check them out since I only live 20 minutes away and save myself some shipping costs... Didn't get an email back. Coincidentally, I was hanging out in a parking lot during a weekly car show and saw some Subaru guys and decided to talk to them. I asked if they were on stlsubaru.com and stuff, then mentioned that I was the detailing vendor on the site. That caught the attention of one guy and he started talking to me about how he does mobile detailing for Lane's. I mentioned to him about the email and he told me to call up there and ask to come out some time. So, I gave him one of my business cards that has my number and website on there... A few days later, I got a call from the owner (Lane)... He told me that he was very impressed with my site and asked if I am any good at writing articles/write-ups. I told him that I do it all the time on stlsubaru and spent a lot of time in college with writing intensive courses. He asked if I would be interested in making write-ups and videos about their products and posting them on my site. I said sure, and he told me to come out to the shop sometime.... After I found some free time about a week later, I went out there. Lane was extremely nice and they had a very nice set-up. They don't actually make the products themselves. They are repackaged from some other company (whose name I can't remember), however, they have a say in how the products are made. So, I suppose they products aren't JUST re-branded. Next to the shop where they stored and shipped out the products, they have an in house detail shop where some guys were currently detailing (I feel sorry for them, it's been 111 degrees here lol) Anyway, I was there for about 3 hours talking to Lane. They would like me to write articles, detail write-up, videos, comparison tests, etc... And post them up on my site and YouTube channel. In exchange, they can give me free products and/or huge discounts on anything they have or can order in for me. They let me pick out a few things I wanted to try out and told me to let them know what I think. I asked Lane if I can be 100% completely honest about their products and he said of course... But, if there is something I don't like, I can call him, and let him know so he can talk to the supplier about making changes... WOAH! It's like... I have responsibilities now... Responsibilities that actually make a difference.... LOL!... I haven't made any official agreements or signed contracts yet, but he just told me to try them out and we will talk about doing a partnership. I really don't know what the main point for starting this thread was. I'm just really excited about this and all my friends don't really care about nerdy-detailing stuff.... Just to make this clear, I am not trying to promote these guys on here. I haven't even tried out any of their products yet so I can't tell you if they are good or crap yet. Maybe some of you have ordered from them and had good/bad experiences with them. Thanks for reading.
While I can certainly understand why you might not want to pay for an attorney to go through any legal documents that might be part of this deal I would strongly suggest that you at least get someone older with more experience with contracts to take a look at them before you sign anything. No offense intended but you seem pretty pumped about this deal and sometimes enthusiasm overrides judgement.
I get what you're saying and no offense taken. I did study business law for a semester in college (but thats not saying a whole lot), but I also have a couple friends that are either business or business law majors and I can always ask for their help. I don't want to say im not enthusiastic about what's going on, I am. But, I'm not actually THAT enthusiastic... Truth be told, I'm not sure if I'm even going to like their products that much especially have having plenty of experience with Adam's, 1z, Menzerna,...
Writing articles and application instructions is worth a lot more than a few free or discounted products. Trust me I know from first hand experience as it has supplemented my income for the last couple of decades
