Microfiber Detergent, which one?

Hmmm... I was under the impression that MF's were to be kept away from heat, thereby necessitating a chemical wash (perhaps this is more of an issue with the cheapo editions). Anyway, I've been using Purex or a knock-off wool detergent here.

I washed with warm water (45C) and MF Restore for 15-20 minute. Rinse with warm water and add some vinegar for the last rinse. I feel like its clean only80-90%:shead:

Hi RnR, Your impression is correct but it is the dryers heat not the boiling heat that you need to be aware of...:thumb:

I haven't tried boiling mine yet but what I have had real good luck with so far is letting them soak in a pail with some very hot water and the citrus APC from HD. The water becomes very dirty. I wring them out and then into the wash with them. If one or two are still spotted, I rub Sunlight bar soap on the spots and then into the wash. Mine have never been cleaner or softer. I use either the DP cleaner or liquid detergent.

And while I'm thinking of it, this may be a good application for LA's Totally Awesome (concentrate)... Another $Store specialty product that cleans quite well - but I do try to make sure I'm wearing my nitrile gloves when it's in play.

I wash mine in Woolite (or a similar type of detergent) and soak them in vinegar and water once a month to remove any limescale deposits... softens them right up!

The heat from the dryer won't hurt the towels at all, this is a common misconception. Boiling also works really well.

I have only used Micro-Restore, so that gets my vote. Doesn't fully clean the workhorse towels, but they still come out feeling pretty nice. Will have to try the soaking method with some APC.

I've boiled my MFs before, but it's such a damn hassle. I just make sure I wash my MFs after every single use so they don't end up being too rank.

Always have been using CG MF wash and it's excellent!

I picked up some DP MF detergent from Cooter. It seems to clean just like a regular detergent but I since it is less gel-like it seems to rinse better in my front end loading washes.

I had a couple MF's that were covered in tire dressing and Black WOW, along with some other MF's that I used to wipe off P21S 100% and CG's M-Seal. I pre-soaked in hot water with some DP Citrus Pad Cleaner. Threw them into the wash with the MicroRestore in the pre-wash and wash trays and they came out ok. No complaints....

I will be running low on the MicroRestore (bought the smaller bottle to try out) and was curious if I should get the 1 Gal. or the CG wash....

For those that prefer the MicroRestore over the CG product, why do you feel this way? Do the MF's come out softer, appear to be cleaner (via brighter color)?

    Thanks Guys!

My MFs always come out soft, super clean and i can use CG MF wash as a carpet cleaner, cleans pads too ^_^

p.s. is it ok to throw the pads in on low heat and dry em, theyre like 80% dry after wash

Heheh, all this talk about MFs that don't get clean enough...

I'll admit that I've thought about breakin out the PW, foam cannoning 'em and then rinsing with the 25*nozzle. These are the ones I've soaked in hot water with MicroRestore or CG's Micro Wash, then washed in the machine and they still come out stained. Boiling 'em is prolly a better idea.

I just did an experiment, and the results are promising.

I washed them in the washing machine, hot cycle, with Majestic Super Green Stuff APC, about an ounce and a half of it, full strength.

They came out soft and CLEAN! A couple were Costco yellows that I'd used to clean up old tire dressing...I thought they were headed for the trash can. Not anymore. They looked brand new.

And...none of them smelled like anything when I pulled them out of the wash. No wax smell, no detergent smell...no odor at all.

I posted earlier, and like your results, the APC worked great. I did one wash where I used APC instead of detergent, but that was on terry towels. I will try it in the wash cycle next. As a pre-wash, the APC does wonders.
