I was on another forum and found these beauties. Not exactly improving my faith in the human race lets just say. I'm not sure what to say here. Aren't Mustangs rear wheel drive? And vice versa...
Speaking of dumbass things... I took my moms car in to wheelworks before winter to get the oil changed, and 2 new tires. It's a Sentra 1.8s and they put the front tires were the ones that needed to be replaced. So the proceeded to put new tires on those rims, then rotate the tires. I said "wtf are you doing? the rears don't have as much tread" He then told me that per "regulation" even on front wheel drive cars, the tires with the most tread go on the back. SINCE WHEN?! Edit: rumor has it that miata one was a joke that UTI students did for the photo op
Actually they are right, the best tires should be on the rear, the reason being is that you have control of the car with the sterring wheel and you want the most traction the rear which you can not control. I have gone to numerous tire schools and factory schools and they all have said that the best go on the rear. At first I was like you, but after understanding the logic behind it it makes perfect sense.
ahah that happend when i had my 240sx..when they inspected it..they pulled the front wheels on..i was like uhhh what r u doing lol
Alot of cars have more brake pressure toward the rear than front now a days. Let me add to my above post, when you have a blow out on the front you have the steering wheel to control the vehicle and the rear tires will have better grip to aid you in controling the car. Any top of the line tire store or delaership that has had factory schooling and/or training by the tire manufactor or their supplier is going to explain that the best tires go on the rear for the above reasons. Trust me I did not buy into it at first because I was brought up on the belief the best tires go up front but once you have been to a few of these classes it gives you a much better understanding of why the best tires should go onto the rear. I was glad to hear the shop that Doot went to actually trains their people which means that is a shop that cares and you can trust.
Good information on the tires guys. This has been a public service announcement brought to you by......
