I tried the Flex 3401 @ the Detail Fest today with a white CCS 6.5" pad and some Menzerna 203 on a black Lexus hood. I applied a little much product to the pad as the pad was already primed from a prior user. You can tell that this is a serious machine. The power? Definitely there. It did not vibrate as much using it @ speed 6 as say, a PC or UDM. I would imagine that a smaller pad, i.e. 5.5" would be perfect. The trigger is variable, (SWEET). You can leave the speed setting and 6 and feather the power to your needs.

Although I did notice some very light tingling in my hands afterward (I don't like). But that's a property of a DA machine. Like I mentioned, I bet using a smaller pad should make this much smoother. If I were to purchase a DA machine, newbie or experienced, there does not seem like a better choice.

Paul, why purchase 2 rotaries? The larger have more power and bog down less?

    1. Its Ken, not Paul.
    2. I wanted to try them both to see the differences between the two. I read that although the smaller one is not quite up to compounding duties, it is an excellent polisher for polishing and jewelling. The body on the smaller one is the same diameter as the 7424 and its a few pounds lighter than my Makita so its a lot easier to use for lighter polishing duties.:thumb:
