That's a fine line to walk. I've walked it myself both as a SysOp (for Cyclo) and as a forum Administrator. Ultimately you are in charge (even though you claim there are no administrators)..

Up the PM limit so that we can have multiple conversations without purging them. I just had to wipe out my sent box so that someone could PM me (I got an inbox email stating it was full).

 

Your still not answer my question...I said lets pretend...so go a head, please share with me what would you have done...your experienced, me this is my first and only forum I have ever started, now when I say this I say it with respect..no double meaning or anything like that..honestly. Up to this day and I apply this to my lifestyle, I use my judgement as best as possible and so far it hasn't let me down..well I do get burned a few times but like I said experience prevails.

 

Well if I were running a board that was claiming to not be a Monarchy I'd be asking my troubled users what I'm doing wrong. If I was a person with some objectiveness I'd be able to see my flaws or my 'staffs' flaws and prevent/correct them. Again it's a fine line and a weird place to be without a doubt.

Even though this question was not directed to me, I was the one who authored the post that inititated it; therefore, I'll take the liberty of suggesting an answer. I would have laughed and shrugged it off. It was hysterical when you step back an look at it. I died, really... Those who took offense have that right. The issue is simply one of moderation. If everyone expressed controversial positions in PM, how would the body politic weight in. The notion of a forum dies - kinda like a democracy. On the flip side, it is your right - its your money.

Having said that, I meant no disrepect to you as forum 'moderator'. I was expressing my opinion on the matter. If we all shared one point of view, it would not be a forum.

The man owned up to his lack of judgement and that has my respect. I'll rest my case, return to reading the posts and refrain from causing any more churn. Mea culpa.

Well I am asking, right here right now, what am I doing wrong? Like I said I'm only human and as a human I can't see my own errors...I'm sure we all do but we see them once we are made aware of them.

So far you have not expressed anything like that, till now. The other gentleman who did express it and started that thread, made me think and like I said I closed it because I would have rather have that person send me a PM rather then publicly humiliate me. Lets be honest here, does a human being like to be humiliated? I haven't met a single person who enjoys being humiliated in public and I'm no exception here.

 

I've said twice now that *I* don't think you are seeing stuff in an objective light. That's my criticism, that's what I think you are doing wrong. And it's not that you are doing it all of the time.

Johnny Knoxville makes his money off being humiliated, not that it's for everyone.

 

To be honest I took no offense to what you posted, but me personally, I'm a face to face type of person. If there is an issue I go directly to the source, not make it publicly known...but again I understand your point and see the value in your statement above.

See, I keep putting my own personal spin off on the forum, yes I'm the owner but to be honest there are so many members here that know where I'm coming from and understand my mentality that I lost track of the new members, members that don't know a thing about me nor the forum..fair enough I understand where your coming from and I appreciate the feed back.

 

Okay fair enough, can you provide me an example and can you provide me a solution, what should I do to be more objective?

 

All my attention is focused to this thread, I would like to deal with this before I go to bed, so please lets proceed with the cleansing.

Mindflux can you please provide me with an example as to where you feel I have not remained objective..was it the M105 thread, was it the chocolate mix thread...which ever it was what is it that made it seem as though I was not objective? Now I also need to know a resolution, how can this be solved and stop such threads from popping up again? Not unless you like such threads to be popping up on a regular basis, I personally don't enjoy such threads.

 

Carlos, you do a great job with the forum and I hate to see you asking yourself what YOU did wrong. The fact of the matter is that you can please all the ppl some of the time, some all the time, but you CAN'T please all the ppl all the time. You are giving to much up to Fluxy here. You run the show and if he want's it a different way, he can open his own forum and build it up like you have. He will (during the long and time consuming process) learn about pleasing the masses and how to speak to people. You stated that you'd prefer to handle matter via PM, so lock him down till he respects your wishes. Bottom line, this is your house, he's disrespecting you in your own house by not following your requests. I think it's sad as hard as you try that you have to waste time with adult daycare.

 

Kudos to Carlos, I think you do a great job of running this place. Rock on Nica!

this is the problem with forums and its members as the forum grows, personalitys clash and the drama starts. you might not want mods but your going to need them as this place grows.
