hehehe LOL You guys are cracking me up! Some of you know I am thinking about detailing on the side. I decided to do this car to put what I have learned to the test. :thumb: This is the toughest car I could find. It will take me at least two weekends but I am going to see what I can do. I am keeping a log of how long each area is taking me, so I can get an idea of the max. time I would need to keep someones car. I am going to try to do this one as much as I can on my own. I don't want to be in the middle of a detail for a customer and have to post up for help or call any of you. I have already taken over 40 pics. I will post up my progress tonight.
Yep Sparkie I remembered the Folex and it is working great :thumb:
I used Meg's hot rims, DP wheels cleaner, ARO trying to use the least aggressive product first as D&D always suggests. The only thing that is working is clay and AIO as AL-53 taught me.
    :thud:

You got this one Tonya.. I am not even worried, I know you can handle it

The best thing about cars that are trashed like that is even a little work makes them look a helluva lot better... cars that are trashed make for the best transformations, working on a brand new off the lot car is where you really have to flex your muscles..

Your elbows may be out of grease at the end of this one but I know you can do it!

Good idea to time how long it takes.. I would suggest timing each step (IE the wheels took "X" amount of time, the engine took "X" amount of time) that way if you get another car that horrible wheels but oh carpet your can estimate your time accordingly.

Sad thing is with the cost of gas being what it is we could buy her an extractor with the gas money...lol

I think she has a LGM which, will take care of that!

Tonya..I wholeheartedly agree with Jason on this. I, being the sucker for punishment I am, really enjoy restoring (and that's what you're doing) vehicles like this because the owner will be absolutely blown away and it truly tests the scope of your work. Spring is just starting to break and I'm going to try to start booking some jobs for the weekend after next. I look forward to getting something challenging like this to do. Good luck: you have the products, the knowledge, the support and the time...the rest is just enjoying it...Jason and I need to get you on to smoking cigars..that'll try top it off!!!

It was a good try in my part, your right about the gas and If she does have a LGM then it's going to work out for her. Can't wait for the weather to get warmer for all you folks up north so i can enjoy more pic's of your work. It's looks like it's going to be a busy summer for everyone!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have learned a lot on the forum from all of you. Now I just want to try it all out. There is nothing like hands on experience. I know everyone, myself included thinks this car is totaled. But really he is not much differnent than most people. I asked him to let me do his car for the experience. :giggle: Really it took some trust on his part. He knows I have never used my PC. But he also knows I am a perfectionist or at least strive to be one. I am thankful he is letting me get the experience :thumb:
ohhh.. I am timing each step :thumb: Thanks! I already thought of that :thumb:
Yep I have a green machine :applause2: It worked great! The Folex is outstanding, it worked wonders on the coffee. I started a new thread in the interior section, engine section and rims section. :giggle:
I am not sure what his reaction will be, he is pretty laid back. I hope he is pleased so far :thumb:
mmmmm a Cigar... well I don't think so :shead: I did enjoy my bubble bath after I was done :rollinglaugh: LOL
Thanks for trying zoomzoom, but I am in good shape for now. I might get an extractor later, but for now the little green should work fine :thumb:
