I finally decided to overcome my fears and make the jump from my beloved Flex 3401 to a rotary and I chose the Makita. I placed the order yesterday and I should be getting it by Wednesday. The deal was a real steal, it was on sale for $189.99 and the seller took off an extra $10, so with shipping I paid only $188.99. Here is the kit I'm getting: SKU: MAK9227CX5 Kit includes polisher, work bag, 4 Microfiber finish towels, 1 pair of mechanix Wear gloves and 1 foam pad. I spent about an hour chatting with ken last night about options for my new toy, so I will be placing a nice order with him to include the entire line of GI polishes, GI pads, and the GI backing plates. :applause2: Update: It came by FedEx Today
Thats one heck of a deal...can't wait to read your thoughts about it and your new product line pick up...
I've been wanting to try different pads for a while other than the LC CCS pads that I've been using and I've heard nothing but great things about the GI pads, especially when used with the GI bp. It is also time for me to explore other options outside of Menzerna.
Haha! Yeah, I was telling Ken that If I like that GI line, I might be selling or trading some things.
I've had great success with the Flex, but I couldn't resist any more and had to go for the famous Makita.
that's a steal man I can tell you that must have been when Makita was wheeling and dealing with the vendors the prices are now higher than that our cost.
I recently purchased a similar kit, albeit without the gloves and the MFs. The price was very good. I can't tell you how happy I am with the purchase and how much fun it is to polish with a rotary. I also have a Flex DA and a PC. The Makita is a different experience. Good luck.
Thanks man, I'm going to get some test panels. It is definitely a great deal. When I saw it I could not let the opportunity pass me by. I almost went for the Metabo, especially since Ranney is selling them for $200 right now, but after speaking to him, he convinced me to go for the Makita instead (which he doesn't even sell, talk about a great guy).
Thanks Carlos. I can't wait to try this thing with the GI line (as soon as Ken fixes his site, so I can place my order oke.
Nothing to the rotary doc, treat it exactly like a Porter Cable and you'll be just fine. Keep it moving at a nice steady pace, pay attention and your good to go...like I said nothing to it :thumb:
