Got this email from my brother this morning. He was driving his brand new 09 GTi.

"Don't know if you heard or not, but I hit a freakin' manhole cover Saturday. At speed...90KPH. Sounded like a freakin' bomb hit us.

$3000 in parts, labour extra, align't extra, rental extra. The GVRD is paying for it all.

No body damage. Thank FQN Christ!!!"

    Thats gotta suck.

It was at night, pouring rain and the city had been doing some road work and didn't replace a manhole cover!

Oh, well that makes a bit more sense. I was joking anyways. That would be a big ball of suck right there.

You were posting how everyone was having bad luck with their cars lately. I didn't want the bad luck to rub off on me.

Dammit, now I probably just jinxed myself. lol.

Oh damn that sucks ken. Glad he's ok though. What color GTI did he get? I don't like the look of the new ones so much, but I guess I'm biased.

Does that mean the city will pay for the damages since they forgot to cover up the manhole?

Yep, and my mistake. He didn't hit the open manhole, just the cover lying in the road! Thats nuts. Total bill will top $4k it looks like.
