I need to ask for some advice from you guys & gals if any on here. I have been contacted by a potential client to detail his Ferrari F430 Spyder. Depending on how well it goes we may get further business from him for his other motor cars. This will be the 1st Ferrari we will be working on and I want to be prepared so any pointers and advice would be greatly appreciated. I am confident the client will be pleased with our work but I want to be prepared for anything that may be a bit different on these cars compared to your regular luxury sedan/SUV :thumb:
I'd be interested to hear any tips as well since I think sometime down the road I'll be doing a Ferrari or some other exotic as well.
Yea, I am sure there are a few guys on here with some experience with these cars....just have to wait for them to spot this thread
Hey Carn, To be honest paint is paint…. Once you get over the fact that you are working on an F-Car the thrill will subside… Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful cars and it is a great amount of trust that a client gives you to restore the beast to beauty but again, it's swirls, clear coat and a rotary! Just use all the skills that you have accumulated up to this point and you will be just fine, I have seen your work, you know what you are doing and don't seem to cut corners.. you will be fine! Congrats on landing your 1st F-Car!
Thanks for the vote of confidence Deep Gloss (sorry I don't know your proper name), I guess it's much of the same just the price that differs Is Ferrari paint usually hard/soft and are there any particular areas on them that one should watch out for ?
I think from 05 and below, the paints are pretty soft (from what I've heard), but the newer ones have ceramic finishes. What polishes do you use?
You're psyching yourself out, big guy! Go into this like its any other car. Start with the least aggressive combo first and go from there. Just remember to keep the speed, thus heat, down on carbon fibre bits. I've been lucky to have worked on 355s, a 360 and most recently, a 430. Take the same pride and care in this as you normally do and you'll be fine. Lots of pics please.

Wish I could share some tips but I still haven't convinced my friends to bring me there vehicles, one has a Ferrari F430 as well but he's hardly ever in town so I can't get my hands on that bad boy :shakehead: well one day I'll have my own mean time I just drool on the details you guys have been posting. Congrats on the coming detail and just a friendly remind to take lots and lots of pictures :whistle:

He is highly private and doesn't want any photies or anything posted anywhere :sorry: In any event the F430 is the 'tester' to check out our work :yikes: That hopefully gives you some idea as to the kind of collection this guy has :headbang: Thanks for all the advice guys, appreciate it all :thumb:

congrats man! I have worked on a 360 so im not sure if some stuff applies to the 430. -on the 360 I worked on (and from what I hear), where the top rubs the paint behind the cockpit and on the 'head raises' in front of the engine compartment, there were some marks that I had to work a little harder at. -if it has the weird alarm to start it, figure it out before you try or else you will sound the alarm and look like an idiot (and then have to call the ferrari dealership and try to yell over the sound of the alarm about turning it off)......... like me and the owners representative did hahahahahahah.....
