This will be a mini review of a couple of products. CG ONE and Dodo Juice Blue Velvet. It was a decent day today after the sun finally came out this afternoon but still a little chilly. I did this in my garage and had a small heater going to take the chill off. It was a strange week here. Last Saturday we had a little rain early. Since I had to be at work early the roads were still wet. There was still a lot of road salt on the streets from a snow we had here recently. I have Off-Roading tires on my truck and they stick out over the wheel wells slightly. Since it was wet, I picked up a lot of salt on the sides of my truck. Then yesterday, the rains came. About 3 inches in this area which is a little unusual for this part of the country. Anyway the rain helped wash away some of the salt residue on the truck but the storms also brought in a lot of dirt with them. When I went out this morning, there were puddles of muddy crap all over the truck. I tell you all of this to set up my little experiment today. I pulled the truck into the garage and brought out my ammunition . Something I love dearly and use on a regular basis: CG ONE. I have been using this product for over a year now and I am always happy with the results. As I said, the truck was still pretty wet from the rain and I didn't bother to dry it before I used the ONE on it. I used a couple of large super plush microfibers to remove the ONE and then followed up with another plush microfiber to buff the paint out a litlle. As always, ONE does a great job of removing dirt. It has some kaolin clay in it so it does help fill minor micromarring. (I have a lot of micromarring right now thanks to a buddy who had my truck washed for me when he borrowed it. I have a great deal of paint correction to do as soon as the weather co-operates) The truck looked really nice after the application of ONE. ONE also has Carnauba wax in it and it leaves a nice waxed finish. By the way, ONE is also all natural. I do recommend this product very highly to any of you who haven't tried it yet. I did use a little more than usual because of the water that was still on the paint finish. ONE has a rather strong Fruitty smell to it but it is quite pleasant. Since I received my Dodo Juice from the group buy, I decided to give it a whirl. I haven't waxed the truck in a couple of months because of the weather here. Since the truck was now clean, I brought out stage 2, Blue Velvet. I have to say that I really like this wax a lot. It has a pleasant smell but not overbearing. I used a foam applicator and it went on very evenly and easily. I was a little suprised by this since this is a hard wax. It seems like harder waxes take a little more work to apply than the Blue Velvet did. I did a panel at a time and let it dry for a few minutes. Then another suprise, It came off as easily as it went on. It came off of the paint more like a soft wax rather than a hard wax. When I completed the process, I pulled the truck outside so I could see the finish with the little remaining daylight that was left. From what I can tell, Blue Velvet left a great finish. Depth and Clarity. The paint on my truck is badly orange peeled and this wax did NOT seem to bring that issue out as some of the other waxes I have used such as Pinnacle or P21s which is the worst for that. Only time will tell as far as durability. I can say one thing, it took two washings of my hands with dish soap to get the wax off of my hands. I will take that a a good sign of durability. I'm sorry that I don't have any pics right now to share. There was not enough daylight left to take a decent picture. Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice sunny day so I will post up a pic then. I didn't do any before shots beacuse of the weater this morning. All in all, I have to say that this little experiment was a success even without any paint correction being done. The truck looks a 100% better. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the Flex, Menzerna and the 3M Ultrafina SE. I hope this helps and Thanks for taking the time to read this! Great review! Count me in the club that really likes CGs ONE. I have started using it on door jambs of my details and it cleans them extremely well, with now dirt streaking like some QDs do, and when you go back and buff it has a nice waxed look to it. ONE is a great and versatile product and glad I bought a gallon of it when I did!
Some people worry about ONE micromarring the paint. My truck is black and I have never noticed any micromarring caused by it.

Hey, BD, nice review. How would you compare ONE to ONR? I know we discussed ONR this past Sunday. Wanted to see if you had any thoughts on similarities / differences between the two.
Actually they are 2 different kinds of products. CG ONE = Waterless wash. I use this mainly in the colder months when I can't get out and do a regular wash. I have just completed my 14 out 16 day work rotation, I didn't really feel like dragging out all of the car wash crap. Normally, I would take the truck thru an automatic pressure wash then come home and use ONE to complete the job. BTW: The automatic behind Costco is pretty good. I go there a lot to get the loose stuff off of the paint and it has a good undercar wash as well. And, No brushes! I probably wouldn't have used ONE today if it wasn't for the fact that the paint was still wet and added some lubrication to the dirt that was sitting in puddles. O ONR = Rinseless wash. You have that so you know how it works.. I use this mainly in the warmer months when the paint is not heavily soiled and I don't feel like dragging out all the car wash crap. Both have their own senarios. I like ONE because it does leave a "just waxed" look to the paint. It's also very easy to use. Just spray on and let it dwell a few minutes then wipe it off. The secret to this procedure though is using a very plush MF towel. This helps pick up the dirt and keeps it in the towel. I used 2 large towels today to do my small truck. They were both pretty wet when I was done. I can't really say that ONE is much of a time saver. It seems like it actually takes longer to use ONE than it does ONR. I do like the fact that it is a convience product. Just saves all the work of getting everything out and putting it all back. Next time we get together, I will give you some of the ONE to try. I think LittleMissGTO should give it a try as well. It will look great on that black GTO of her's. I will probably have to get a gallon of this soon. It's like an addiction, can't be out of smokes or Diet Coke and I can't be out of ONE!
OK, here's a few pics I took this morning in the sun. Please keep in mind that this was just a clean up. Wash and wax so to speak. There was NO paint correction done. I have my work cut out for me to get the paint back in in the shape that I like it to be. I see a lot of depth and clarity in the finished product. It has a classy look. It does give a wet look but not like P21S does. P21S being a soft wax, will do that. I'm sure the Blue Velvet will have much more durability than the P21S or even Pinnacle Souveran.
Well considering I am still a novice, it does not surprise me that my experience is completely different from that of yours. I bought Blue Velvet from FMINUS and: Application with an applicator pad took me a good 20-35 minutes (I turned the Blue Velvet over and knocked the bottom hoping the wax would fall out for easy application onto the applicator but no luck there) I let it dry/haze for 10 minutes. Buffing alone took me around 3 hours @_@. I did a light pass with a MF towel. Streaks of wax remained. Added some Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detail and I had to put a lot of pressure to buff out the remaining wax. It was not fun :*( So I called FMINUS and he told me that I probably put waaaaay too much of the wax on. I will add a 2nd layer tomorrow if I have time. If I don't have time, I will probably just do the hood and apply as thin a layer as I can. Also, how do you guys apply the wax onto a foam pad for PC application? I can't get the wax out of the bottle haha.
Would the koalin clay be strong enough to fill in any marring left behind if marring were to occur durring the waterless wash?
I think FMINUS is spot on there, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much! Blue Velvet is a breeze to apply, even though it's a hard wax. You want to work the applicator in the jar for a bit to get the oils going or if you don't seem to be getting anywhere, use a mifcrofibre to get it going, once you've got it going it will spread really well. Not sure who's tip it was, maybe wolfpackers, but someone said heat the applicator before hand, that does work well with these hards waxes. Keep it thin, you should be barely able to see the wax on the car, 2 thin coats will be much better than one thick coat and it will easier to remove . Also don't leave it too long, don't do the whole car and come back to it, probably two panels and then go back to remove, it really does only need 5 to 10 mins to be ready otherwise it will be harder to remove.
:thud: Thank god I am making these errors now before I am detailing other people's cars. Yeah I did the whole car and went back to it. Hahahaha I wonder if I did anything right in applying the Dodo yesterday. This wax is on a whole 'nother level compared to pinnacle or p21s. Thanks SO MUCH for the tip!! :hug:
I always apply carnauba wax by hand. I can't ever remember a time that I applied wax by machine. (That's a lot of time too). I always apply a thin coat. Once my foam hand applicator gets loaded, I simply wipe it over the wax and then to the vehicle. I have found that many carnauba waxes require very little time to set up if applied properly. Meaning a light coat of wax. I usually allow to dry(set-up) for a few minutes, then wipe with a clean MF towel. I try to do a panel at a time or maybe half the hood or roof depending on the vehicle. I NEVER wax in the sun. Always a shaded area or if I can in a garage. Hope this helps.
