Another option would be buy a second hand top end Canon. You can get a 1dm2 used for 15-1600. (roughly what a 40d is worth) Be a while before you grew out of that camera + you will have a better camera from the start.

That's what I've been trying to do..thing is I haven't found a really good camera just yet...but then again I'm still learnign about cameras...my friend that is a profesional photographer will hopefully be selling me his Cannon...can't remember the model though but it cost hims over $2000.00..well that's what he said

I'll get the model number/name and maybe you guys can tell me if it's a good one or not.

Im in the same boat Nica. Want a good camera but dont want to pay 5g for one. Things like this thou require expensive tools for good photos and room to grow. That 1dm2 is a 5g camera new and theyre selling around 1600 used. Find a good photo forum and search the for sale section.

Yea that's true...I've seen my friends collection and it's masive :what: he's spent so much money on cameras, lenses..ect..ect..ect..list goes on and on. It's definetly a nice hoby though, I mean if you go on holidays and once I learn how to take good pictures to begin with it's nice to take good quality pictures and look at them and share with friends and family.

I need to do so much reading on cameras though :missy:

I just started looking for one a few days ago.

Im just starting to figure out what the model numbers are of the cameras

I find myself reading about a certain lens and seeing the pics they can take. Get all pumped up and start looking for that model only to find out its SEVERAL thousand dollars:acry2:

I hope for my familys sake the oil patch dosent fall apart. Im drowning allready :rollinglaugh:

lol..I hear you...I started reading looked at the pictures looked at the model of camera and lense that was ued to get such flawless pictures and then went to look at the price of the camera...and I literally droped my jaw open...:what:...and I thought the paint gauges were expensive :what:

I think I'll take my time with the camera...so much reading to do that I don't want to rush it...I hate it when I rush a purhcase...always end up kiking my self for it. Gauges for example took me all summer to read up on, get testimonials...ect..ect..ect..then just now I decide to purchase...took a long time....so I'll probably do the same with the camera.

Heres what I ended up getting:

    Items:
    Delivery estimate: December 6, 2007 - December 11, 2007

    * 1 of: Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black)

I really like the Nikon D80 better in feel but I cant justify an extra $300 for a camera in the same category.

Yea you are pretty much the reason I picked this one, I was thinking since we have the same tastes in detailing, this should work out good!

FMINUS, I was at a very nice wedding last night and the back-up photographer had a Rebel XTI with a Tamron 28-75 lens and the 580EX flash.

    What does THAT tell you???

Wide angle lenses are typically used for landscapes. But you can use wide angles for lots of things, and you can use telephotos for landscapes too. Its all about being creative. But there are certain lenses that are better for certain situations.

Oh ......okay so will a wide angle help when taking pictures of a vehicle? Or rims? Or interior? I'm assuming so but just asking that's all.

Oh excuse the ignorant question but what are the name of those lenses that reduce blurry pictures? I need one of those hahahahaha
