Many of you know I'm a paramedic by profession. I've been at my present job since 1994. Just to give you an idea. In this line of work you really never know what youre gonna go after. Most of it, is usually non emegerncy stuff, but occasionally we run up on something totally off the wall. Well, tonight was one of those nights. We respond to a residence approx 2 miles from our hospital. We find a guy in the hallway laying face down on the floor. Not really anything unusual about this. So my partner and I go back out to the ambulance to get some gear and we go back in the residence. I'm busy trying to put a tube down the guys throat when she comes back in with the cardiac monitor. Well, my partner becomes short of breath, she tells me she has to go outside and she cant breath. So, one minute later a family member of this guy shows up. She's a RN and tells me, you're partner is outside and she cant hardly breath. So I finally get an airway established on this guy and run outside and give my partner a albuterol nebullizer treatment and then run back in the house. By this time one of the local firemen had showed up and was helping me do CPR. Well my partner had tried to call our dispatch center and couldnt hardly talk. Turns out they had thought I had been shot LOL! Well, another ambulance gets there and with there help, we load this patient up in our bus and take him in. Still doing CPR. My partner rides in on the other truck. She was seen in our ER and then discharged. Feeling better. The other patient wasnt so lucky. Lots of health problems.

Anyway. Long story short. I've neer been on a call and had to take care of 2 patients. One being my partner, the other being a patient thats unresponsive and clinically deceased. It was a nightmare of a call. The whole time in my head was-- WTF. What do i do, what do i do. Crazy. They dont teach you stuff like this in school.

Anyway. Sorry for the long story. Had to vent.

Take care guys. Remember. Stop smoking if you do. It never gets better.

    Happy Detailing:kick2:

She has a history of bronchitis and asthma. She smokes too. We think it was caused by something in the house. We werent in there 3 minutes when it hit her.

I've picked up so many ppl that smoke over the years. The toll it takes on your body is just crazy. If you want something that will make you look 20 years old. Here it is. Oh yeah btw. It builds up in your lungs creates mucus so thick that you cant move oxygen in and out of your body, makes your chest become barrell shaped and you skin like leather. All these things take a long time and they dont happen to everyone, but as long as you dont smoke, you've got a better chance of not having this. =) !! What can smoke do for you ??

    Chew some gum!

That just sounds insane...man I wouldn't be able to take in anything like that. Smoking is soooooo bad! I went to this Body's exhibit and it said one pack takes away an average of 2 hours n some minutes from your life...just insane. People threw their cigarette boxes in this clear trash bin.
