I have CNN on while I work and they have the hearings on.. MAN they are HAMMERING into Roger Clemens and his doctor...
I honestly don't care. Why aren't these lawmakers doing something that would actually impact our daily lives in a good way? Does it bother me that these guys are looked up to? Yes, but Charles Barkley said it best "I'm not your child's role model. You are" I firmly believe that and I do my best to impart good values and habits onto my kids.
I think it is an unfair advantage for them as opposed to other players that got their numbers by the book... While I agree there are other things for these attorneys to litigate that could be more valuable for society = what they choose to do is not my problem.. I dont think the stats of players that used HGH and/or steriods should be ackowledged.
The problem is they'll never admit to using illegal drugs. Seriously if Clemens didn't think his career would be over if he said, Yes I took HGH he would have come out and said it by now. Hell Rick Ankeil had HGH prescribed to him by a doctor and they didn't help him much...LOL
That's what I am talking about As far as being a role model for my child = I think it is silly to idolize someone who is good at hitting/catching/throwing a ball.. I steer my son to utilize peoples character and what the do as their lifes mission as role models.. To look up to someone who has made millions off sports IMO is silly.. EVEN if they choose to do good things with their money.. It's easier to be a "good doer" with your money when you have millions... How people conduct their lives is much more acceptable criteria to be considered a roll model - at least that's how things go down in my house...
regardless of what clemmens says his trainer JUST admitted that during his last testimony he lied when he said he had no knowledge of clemmens using HGH and said that he personally shot him up with it Brian McNamee's Opening Statement to Congress - ESPN Video He lied, his numbers should be erased - done deal - JMO
I agree on me being my kids role model but the truth of the matter is, I can't dunk a basketball, make a leaping one handed catch between two all-pro defenders or hit a baseball 400 ft. So my kids will admire people that do, its only natural if they love sports. With that being said it sickens me to think that kids will think the only way to do this is with performance enhancing drugs, and that's the message that is being sent by some of these athelets. I agree the records should be erased and left standing for the men and women that set them the old fashion way! I remember seeing a round table discussion with some athelets and it was brought up that something like 50% of Olympic athelets had said they would take a drug that would assure them a gold medal even if they would die from it within 5 years. The moderator said he though that was wrong and DeMarco Farr, who played for the Super Bowl winning St. Louis Rams said he didn't. The mod then asked him if he would do something like that to gaurantee a Super Bowl victory and he said ABSOLUTELY! I was stunned. Clemens could have aleviated much of this if when the allegations came out he would have just said, "Yeah I took HGH. But I only took it to come back from an injury because I felt bad sitting on the bench collecting my millions and not contributing to the team. I did it to come back sooner to help my teammates and the franchise." Although it would have still been wrong he would have been viewed 180 degrees differently. As a side note although I can't dunk or any of the other stuff I alluded to, I can hit a golf ball as far as a lot of PGA pros :golf: just can't putt like em :giggle:.
