That clay isn't made by Chemical Guys. I believe it's made by a company here in the UK and distributed by the Chemical Guys UK importer.

It's sold by quite a few UK traders under their own brands.

 

CG doesnt make clay thats for sure. I was just hoping it was made by a US company. That way maybe I can :tiptoe:

yup, their clay is CM clay. I matched up the packaging and patent #s and they're identical.

 

I think that this clay us the same sold by Clean Your Car, wich is superb.

 

Sure looks like the same clay we have. We were even able to choose that same container. Unfortunately if it is they would have had to sign the same contract we did and not be able to sell into the USA.

 

I bought a bunch of yellow clay last summer...some left over here in the US..and some from the UK when I did my big order of Menz...and the stuff from the UK was the same as the Erazer clay I bought here in the US...The clay I bought in the US came under the name as Stuf and Erazer clay...the stuff from UK was the CG clay..it was under the CG's other product line..I forgot the name...but it was the good stuff..so this may be as well....

Does the patent just cover selling the clay in the US or actually even sending the clay to the US is likely to get your ass sued?

Without wishing to break any forum rules, upset any forum sponsors/traders or get sued.

What if a certain UK DB member that has access to a bulk supply of this clay was to send some clay to the US as a "gift". Obviously that UK forum member would need to recover the postage costs of that "gift" which might be slightly more than the cost price of the postage to cover the "packaging" etc. Just thinking outloud.

 

The patent does not allow to sell in or to the USA. If you send it as a gift make sure you do not receive a single penny for it.

 

So if no money was to change hands, the patent hasn't been infringed?

Also something to mention, the certain UK member has never signed a contract to say they won't sell it the US or ever been told by their UK supplier that it can't be sold in the US.

 

I don't have all the answers. I just keep clean myself to avoid any problems.

 

OK, understood, I guess only a patent expert is going to be able clarify for certain.

 

What about the person receiving in the US? Can anything be done to them?

 

I work for a UK bank right now, Ill ask someone to interoffice it to me, its free....

always a loophole.
