I partnered with a forum friend G35stilez on this one. I'm glad I did as this was a beast to get correct.... Up for grabs this cold New England weekend is an '08 550i. Carbon Black with Natural Brown Leather, Navigation and Sport Package, this was a well optioned example. We didn't see the sticker, but are quite sure the owner ordered the "Granite Paint" option. Every pre-08 BMW I've worked on has had very soft, finicky paint...not this. We polished the car with 7 different combos, ultimately deciding on a 3-step polishing process plus sealer and wax. Once you see the swirls, you will laugh. I thought this was a Z-PC and polishing pad on the PC + Z5 Pro. I was way wrong . Interior/Exterior/Engine took about 18 man hours... Interior was cake. Steam, Zaino Z10, and Opti-Seal for the wood. Looks great. Engine was simply ONR to clean, some CG Silk Shine and QD. Exterior took 90% of the time. Etchings, key marks down the driver side, and some swirl marks took their toll on us. We played around with a few combos and ultimately went with the following: - Optimum No Rinse Wash - Zaino Z18 Clay with Z6 as lube - Menzerna SIP and cutting pad @ 1500 - Zaino Z-PC and polishing pad @ 1200 - Zaino Z-PC and polishing pad @ 6 (to clean up light rotary haze) - Zaino Z6 wipedown - Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd) - Swissvax Concorso (user requested) - FK1 425 final wipedown - Zaino Z16 on tires - CG Silk Shine in wells BEFORE: Got etching? Me working Swissvax curing Final product: Owner inspection
Very nice work! What do you mean by detailing technology? Did you guys use some new tools that we don't know about yet???
Very nice detail there jsatek, the picture of the owner inspecting the vehicle is great :applause2: don't you just love it when they go through the vehicle and find nothing but flawless results...nice. I like the interior picture, very classy interior. Oh by the way you live in a very lovely neighborhood, the houses on the background look nice. Now with regards to the title I'm going to have to edit it :scared: If there are any questions shoot me a PM.
If they don't inspect it, I dont feel like I succeeded. I want them to see every bit of work that went into creating the finished product. They need to see value. I'm going to get a 3 series for my wife in the spring to match this customers color choices. We both loved it. I
Awesome work. You and Sean are a great tag team. I love the look on the owners face as he is looking at the results
I totaly agree with you jsatek :thumb: BMW's are very nice vehicles, I've always liked there head lights, wife's going to be rolling in stile buddy :applause:
We will certainly team up for a few more. I have a new step to add to the mix that Sean got word of. I am looking forward to producing some heart stopping results. Spring is coming.
Outstanding work!!! Looks superb!!! I always thought that 5-series BMW is one of the most beautiful cars ever build, especially this newer updated version. It's headlights show some "eye lashes", which looks gordeous, while tailights have beed updated with newer LEDs which is awesome!!!
