Well this truck belongs to my boss. He had me do a detail on it last summer and it had terrible water spots on the hood. I tried everything I had with my PC but couldn't get them out. Well this wasn't a paint correction detail but I wanted another shot at the hood with my new products and tools. I figured this would be a good test for me to try out the Metabo on. Like I said it wasn't a paint correction but it is my boss' truck so I wanted the best shine I could get. Paint correction really isn't an option as this is his daily driver and he drives about 100 miles round trip for work everyday. Well here's what I did: Tires/Wheels: The wheels got Megs Wheel Brite and OrngeZ's wheel sticks and a black shmitt. This is an ustopable combo regardless of how nasty the wheels are and the shine is just brillant. The tires got Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff and the wells got CGs Grime Reaper. The tires were dressed with Optimum Tire Shine and the wells got CGs Bare Bones. Chrome: The chrome on this truck was nasty as well and looked dull and more like faded aluminum. The tail pipes got Megs Wheel Brite first and then all the chrome: lower panels, fender flares, bumpers, nerf bars and tail pipes all got Klasse AIO with a 3" white pad. It was then buffed off with a Cobra Jr. MF. Trim: The black plastic pieces on the bumpers and the nerf bars got Majestic Solutions Quick Details. The door handles and side mirrors got CGs Trim Gel. Engine: Got the old faithful, rinse, spray with MS SGS, agitate, rinse, dry with leaf blower, dress with MS QDs. Wash: Washed with the foam cannon and a strong solution of CGs CWG and my Griots mop stick. All the lower panels were pre-treated with MS SGS and then foamed with CWG. The pretreatment of SGS and the CWG made wiping off the nasty road grime a breeze. Bugs got MS Bug Off and a Pinnacle Safe Scrub. Clay: Clayed with DP 4n1 clay lube via a handheld pressurized sprayer like you get at Lowes. I like this method because it puts plenty of lube on the paint and sure beats the traditional sprayer. Last time I did the truck I wasn't into claying and it showed in how dirty the clay got with contaminates it pulled fromt the paint. Interior: He keeps the interior very clean so it just needed a vacuum and a wipe down with 303 Protectant. The leather seats were conditioned with CGs Leather Conditioner. The floor mats were cleaned with Awesome APC. By the time it was time to dry the mats my son was home from school and wanted to help his Dad so he dried them (man I love when he helps) Glass: Glass inside and out got CGs Glass Cleaner applied with a CGs El Gordo MF and dried off with an eShine Dehydrator. The windshield was then treated with a layer of DG AW and buffed off with a WW. Door Jambs: Door jambs got CGs ONE. I just started using the ONE for this and really love it. I use it just like I do on paint, spray, wipe in one direction to lift the dirt, then come back and buff to a brilliant shine. I also like being able to say not only did I clean the jambs I waxed them too. Here are some before and after pics: Paint: Well after much prodding from FMINUS and Asphalt Rocket I decided it was time to do a detail with the Metabo and 3M bp. Asphalt Rocket had been giving me tips so that I wouldn't leave any hologramming since he knew that was one of my biggest fears. Well I started on the hood and used Menzerna SIP with a white LC CCS 5.5" pad and the Metabo. I followed it up with Menzerna 106ff and a black LC CCS 5.5" pad and the Metabo. After that I pulled it out into the sun and no hologramming, thanks Asphalt Rocket! Like I said this wasn't a paint correction but I did want the best shine I could get so I went with Menzerna 106ff and a black LC CCS pad on the Metabo. The shine was incredible on that black and I was quite proud of myself. I decided to use my new DFT Combo Paint Gauge as well to see what I was working with. My readings were all very consistent which was what I was looking for. Here are some pics of the gauge in action on the hood and a side panel. The lowest number I got was right at the edges of the hood: LSP: Well for LSP I went with my favorite, CGs Jetseal 109. It was applied with a red LC CCS 4" pad and the polishing pal. I buffed it off with a CGs yellow and black MF. I was very pleased this time with the results and thanks to the prodding from FMINUS and AR I was able to do the detail with the rotary. Well done there Wolf :applause: glad to hear the Metabo experiance went well, see there's nothing to it, it's just like using a PC really easy nothin to fear..just as long as your paying attention. That's probably the bigest difference, you have to keep focus wile your using the rotary. Good for you for using it, just keep on using it and before you know it you'll be wondering why you started off with the PC and so on. Truck looks great and the picture of your son helping is so cool well done :applause:...he's so cute as well. Thank you for sharing with us, truck looks great :thumb: Oh just curious how much correction were you able to get out of this combo, I've been surprised a few times what 106FF can correct...all depending on the clear coat of course.
Thanks bro! Thanks Tonya and yeah my boy does love to help with the cars. He was wiping down wheels before those pics! Hope he continues to love it like I do! And yeah a guy bought the house across the street right before they were going to demo it and he tore the roof off and is rebuilding it exactly like it was. I'm sure he is going to flip it after that. Nica you are so right about the metabo. I was really concentrating and focusing on what I was doing but it got easier as the polishing went on. By the last few panels I was feeling a lot more comfortable and can't wait to use it again! I got a great correction with SIP/White pad and 106ff/Black pad. The hood came out great and I just forgot to take a pic as I was in a hurry taking after pics. I got the truck back to work 5 minutes before he was to get off and surely didn't want the boss to have to stay late because of me :yikes:! The 106ff/black pad on the rest of the truck actually got rid of a lot more swirls than I thought it would. They were easily 60% gone which really impressed me. You are right why didn't I try this sooner :applause2:. To all the guys that use a rotary and post results here I thank you because that is really what made me want to give the rotary another try!
Weldone Wolf, see rotary is easy buddy. Keep using it, it helps tha the Metabo seems to melt in your hands and before you know it the Metabo feels like an extension of your hand as it should be...well at least that's how I feel when I'm using my Metabo. Yea the 106FF is quite impresive isnt it. So glad to hear your experiance went well, man I'm looking forward to your details to come :woo: :woo:

that is an awesome clean up there Wolf... I'm glad you finally busted out the metabo, that's a lot of money just to be sitting and not used. I can't wait till i can purchase my rotary!!
