Well there isn't any long story LOL .I work for a new car dealer I'm a shop foreman been with volvo for close to 30 years so i have to do tech reports when things like this happen which isn't very offen. This engine was in a 2007 S40 close to 15,000 miles .From what we ended up figuring out the factory didn't torque the rod cap bolts correctly one came loose .The rod went one way untill it hit the block and wasn't happy with one side so blew out the exhaust side ,intake side ,Whenthe rod went out the intake side broke the starter mounting which in turn broke the transmission also.End of story New engine,New trans,New starter all under warranty . I have all kind of pis like this not too sure if volvo would like them posted LOL
Oh I'll post up the results when all is said and done. Yesterday as I was heading out to visit with a friend my clutch showed up. I've gotten into the habit of opening the boxes to take a look at this stuff so that I can see if anything has been damaged and knowing that it won't look this cool once the motor roars to life. Flywheel: Rest of the clutch:
That pressure plate sure reminds me of a circular-saw on the inner diameter with the sharp/jagged markings or imprints
Just got word that the block has been align bored and now needs to be cleaned so that there's no trash left in the motor from the machining process. Assembly will start sometime next week. :applause2::headbang:
What you are showing is the sleeves being removed for new ones. Align bore is when they install the main caps, check clearance in each crank saddle and true all of them with a boring bar for the crankshaft.
depends which way you look at it, id say you have 2 extra cylinders lol just showing what our honda wiz is doing on honda side. thats darton sleeves, i guess its needed to have 4.0L displacement, stock 3.0L block doesnt alow to be bored to have 4L here is link if some of you want to see what its for Turbo charging the 7th gen...... - V6 Performance.net Forums
The detail will most certainly be a labor of love. It's very odd not seeing the parts when I come home. My first thought is who broke in. Then I realize that I dropped the parts off and they'll be coming back to me soon. SSTG oh you'll see me around town I'm sure...LOL
Ooo exciting, I love the final stages. My car comes in in a couple weeks to do a tear down and install of a wee blower . Cant wait to see the final results
Sooo, I just spoke to the dealership and found out that I bent 2 rods in my Mazdaspeed3. I've been without my car for over two weeks now; I can't imagine how you've survived without your car for this long Shauna! I'm lucky my car is still covered under warranty. Hopefully I'll have my car back by the end of the month. Kudos to you for being so patient! :thumb:
Push rods or connecting rods and how did you manage to do that? Gary it's been hard. Especially with the nice days we've had here lately. I keep telling myself that the end result will be worth all of the waiting I've done.
