sorry to hear about this...give me your ls2 and i can put it to good use on my s14 kouki.... thats my plans anyways..and definitely going to reinforce internals before i slap it in...keep us updated and post lots of pics..
I've often wondered how the GTO would fare in F Stock. Most powerful car in the class, independent rear suspension. How wide are the stock wheels, and is there room to cram huge tires onto the car?
Even though it's broken I'm going to hang on to the motor. How about I send you some of the broken parts?:cig: I'm anxious for the new rods and pistons to show up. Can hardly wait to fondle them. There are some guys doing fairly well on the circuit. The real problem is that the GTO is SEVERELY under tired. There's not a lot of room to run a wide tire unless you go with a custom wheel like CCW or OZ racing.
One of the happiest days of the year for me was when my CCWs arrived :applause2: What class do you run that thing in? Obviously not F-Stock with the big radiator and whatnot. I'm guessing ESP, or SM? I think I'd heard that the GTOs came from the factory with tires way too small for it - like 225s I think. You'd be surprised how much Hoosier A6 you can cram onto a pretty narrow wheel. The guy who won the Pro Solo finale in an Integra Type R this year had 275 tires...on a 6 inch rim! :headbang: They bulge out so severely that they look like cantilever slicks.
Before the radiator failure I just ran the stock class. I had that radiator custom made earlier this year. Once the car is back on the road I'm going to go with more suspension upgrades. Pedders makes some pretty decent parts for my car. I just ordered a Cloyes single roller timing chain. I should see it Wed.
pedders for the gto is the only way to really make the gto handle. It has the power but needs to lose a bunch of weight. Which is why I sold mine. And got back into imports.
I completely agree with you about Pedders. Heck Pete even drove from his home in Michigan to St. Louis to come speak to the local GTO club, and didn't mention Pedders parts one time.
Merry Christmas to me! It really sucks that this won't be seen once they go in the motor: New Clutch lines:
UPS dropped by again today: Cloyes drop shipped this one to me after I order the wrong one. Monday or Tuesday I should see my new oil pump and ARP balancer bolt.
So I'm sitting here getting ready to play a vidya game and there's a knock at the door. I was a little surprised to say the least, so I peeped through the peep hole and saw it was the UPS guy. Now I'm expecting a pair of pants to be delivered tomorrow morning so I was surprised to see him tonight. So I opened the door and I saw a box instead of one of those flimsy plastic packages that shirts or pants would come in. So little old me got real excited. This is what was in the box:
The crank is back from the machinist. It was turned one ten thousandths. Getting the last of the parts ordered here over the next couple of weeks. I'm also having a custom cam made for the GTO. Should make some nice numbers until I put the supercharger on the GTO. I should be back on the road in March if not sooner. :applause2:
Yes, it does. I'll be coming to visit you soon. Going to have to do one heck of a cleaning job on it when it's back on the road.
What are the specs of the cam? Have you thought about them being custom blower cams so that you are ready to make better numbers when you move on to the supercharger? Are you going centrifugal or roots? Either way, a NA cam isn't going to help you with power production with a FI. I'm sur eyou already know this though. GOod luck with getting it back up, I'll be tearing mine apart when I get home to make a few "changes"....new motor/tranny/built rear:crasy:
