Avatar - Help Please :)

Ok, so call me dumb but I was trying to change my avatar and I can not get one any bigger than the one you see now. I had a larger one but wanted to change it. File size is less than size limit and pic size was around 100 px. Hmm, i see some larger ones around here...I am normally pretty good at comps and have no issues on other forums...so someone help. hehe..

 

im a little confused...but try hosting it on a website instead of uploading it

 

I tried hosting it as well, one right now is hosted as well.

 

hmmm im stumped. maybe try using a different file extension. like png or jpeg

when you upload the avatar it says 120 by 120 limit.

the 100% easiest way to do it with out any software is to use MS Paint to change the size of it. keep shrinking it until you get to 120x120 and your all set

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
and install Microsofts IMAGE RESIZER to do what you want with only a right click on the file

thats if your running windows.

 

Yeah that is the confusing part for me, i have the pic down to 90x90px file size 17 KB and still does not show up properly. I have resized the image in PS...I remember having issues when I did it the first time as well. I used this same image on all other forums I am on and had no issues...oh well I keep working on it ha.

 

so i found your pic and the issue might be that yoru not starting with a square picture. here are two i made
this one i cropped a bunch then started with as close to a square before shrinking.


this one i just forced it to hold 120x120 but it makes your car look a bit off.

 

here is another that worked better as the angle allowed me to keep it more square

 

Mine says 50 x 50 or like 19.5mb

 

I don't know how you have pics as large as you guys do!

 

no clue mines exactly 120x120 could it be something with the recent update that took place the other day?

 

Maybe when you become a member supporter they make your avatar smaller? lol..I dunno. Not a big deal.

 

ha, right clicked save that and uploaded it and still a no go...idk whats going on. Had a larger one now no go, maybe some settings got changed...oh well.

 

My guess would be something got changed with the upgrade too.

 

Well here are the current specs for loading avatars:

Avatar Maximum Width (pixels) = 120

Avatar Maximum Height (pixels) = 120

Avatar Maximum File Size (bytes 1kb - 1024 bytes) = 51200

I honestly can't remember what the previous settings were but let me know what your guys thoughts are.

 

Like them, those are about avg numbers for other forums I am on as well.

 

Yes, that sounds about right that's why it was strange you couldn't get it to work :shrug:

I could not get it to work for my life, tried the pics posted, every combo...i am pretty smart with computers and did everything I could. PMed Carlos and sent him a link to the pic and he hooked me up with a jumbo avatar, :applause2:
