don't take this the wrong way... but it must be nice to have money like that to play with. i really admire some of you guys's collections, but as someone that does this full time, you would have a very hard time recouping that cost of the wax... even harder time actually making a profit from it. I know in some places, people will pay anything.... where I live they are cheap... so buying the expensive stuff is almost throwing money away.
I am still on the fence about buying Vintage. I ask all my customers if they are willing to pay an extra $100 for the Vintage application and all of them say YES. You need to move to CA michael!!!
Yea I know, Its just that Im wondering if I will keep doing details, its getting kind of tiring! ALso from what I heard from Phil, Zymol is charging $2-300 for refills now?
What about Divine? Sounds even more exlusive! Can understand your getting the detailin up your neck. Full time work, night school and soon a baby! Busy busy busy Start doing two details a month, and take higher prices?
I need Vintage because of the refills and the CASE! The only other option would be Royale! Im booked until May now. Im not taking any more new clients. Its getting to be waaay too much. I keep upping the price but its not working. Im so glad for webcasts, because thats how I attend school now! Almost 90% of the class has full professions so the school is very lenient. PhD here I come! :joint:
Royal, sounds good in my ears May, okey. So you have enough to do. Could I ask how mutch you take? over pm if you want! When they know they are getting good details, price is no limit! Know what you are saying about school, almost same way I have been doing.
I live in a city that has more money then brains we re bathing in oil , so people are willing to pay, however thats not the only thing to consider. I was using waxes that where 100 bucks for 8oz. this 22 and refilable. If i can get it to less then the cost of the other wax per oz then it was worth it. What im trying to say it also depends on how often youuse is.. heck i have half the jar left and have not used it on a single customer car. Its going to last me 4 or 5 months and im going to need a refill.. tome this is what made it worth it I wish.. but i love canada way to much. And if you use it on every car(when you refill say it was all pesonal) then it might be worth it... ell depends on how much the wax you used before costs I have not refilled mine yet, however if this is the case they will be getting a call from a lawyer, i paid 2g for refills, it was part of the agreement. zymol now has a trade up program you can trade vintage in for royal and pay the diffrence. I dont know how long it will ast but they have it on right now also thats really cool they have podcasts, tats a great idea...:chest:... so what are you getting youe phd in?
 I agree with Calgary, our town were we live is getting rediculous money being trown out the window and detailing is just one aspect that's becoming a cash cow. I have a friend that every summer purchases a new vehicle, he got him self a hanger...a frigin hanger for all his cars!!! Oh and if I'm lucky I'll be able to detail all his vehicles this summer, so lets just say money is not an issue for him he just wants quality and I'm more then happy to deliver...so for me to purchase Divine or a high end wax from Zymol I can literally recoup the money and actually make profit from the wax...but like you said Champ it all depends were your situated and how people are...you know one spin off is that you got the weather..wile we :cold: our but off when we detail...well not me I got a bay now :chest:
just wait, alot of the money is new money i this town. All these people have worked hard all there lives and dont want to spend it. Wait till there kids get a hold ofit and it becomes old money, some of these people will inherant 100mill.. never have to work and have everything, they will be the ones to spend cash. even if oil drops calgary will have old money for many years to come. heck my dads old boss started an oil company,he passed of cancer, each of his children inhereted over 150mill.. never again will they have to work. money is a big thing now but im convinced it wil only get better
:agree: your absolutely right Calgary, right now so many people are keeping ZR and Kulu in business because of what your saying. Citizens of Calgary have worked there tail off and now are rewarding them selves with Ferraris, lots of Porche's, Lotus, Autin Martins..ect..ect..the list goes one. About 10 to 15 years back it was rare to see a Ferrari, now adays down town you see Lambo's, Ferraris all over the place. One thing I'll comment on though is that my kids will have to urn every penny they get from me...no free ride...or spoiled brans from me :catfight: no sir not going to let any of my kids (future kids) get spoiled wroten..to much of that happening at the moment.
you and my dad would get along great, although he gives us a great life there are high expectations (even though he dosent see it that way) a free ride is not an option...
serious question.. how much of the cost is for the actual wax? then how much is for the case it came in??? I'm sure it's a good wax... but I'm wondering if you not paying more for the container it comes in
well the jar is worth 2k.... the wax would probley be as much as antilque maybe a little cheaper but at te end of the day you are paying for the contanor.. its whats refillable. becasue the wax is refilled at no cost (yes you do pay shipping) they put a value of 0 on it... I would compare vintage to concours on steriord, (i have not tried the other zymols so i cannot compare) at 8oza jar of concours at 200 bucks, i would say the waxi n the jar could be worth 500-600bucks. the other way tovalue it would be what people pay on ebay, 300 bucks for 4oz...... Its worth what people wil pay.... but at the end of the day when all is say and done the 2g is for the case, the wax is free :joint:
:rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: that's one way of putting it :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: But well said Calgary, well said.
