Client brought this car i for a single stage polish as it had accumulated some light marring from weekly washes. Sorry for the lack of before pics but it was pouring rain out when I washed it. Let me say that the car was extremely clean and even the jambs only needed a light brushing to clean them. Jambs etc cleaned with citrus cleaner I'm testing. Washed with Bilt Hamber Auto Wash. Great soap when you consider it foams like crazy and you only use one TABLESPOON per 4-5 gallons. Clayed with some new clay we are testing Terence polished the drivers side with Uber orange and Power Finish on his Makita (until he broke it ) while I used the Uber yellow on my trusty PC7424. The Uber green got rid of all the washing issues, but some deeper stuff remained so we opted to get out what we could without resorting to heavy abrasives. To amp up the gloss, I went around the car with Uber blue and 106FF. We really wanted to impress the owner as the car had come in looking really good already so we decided on Gloss it for LSP duties. Gloss it Activator was applied first to lay some good ground work for the Gloss Finish to adhere to. Two coats of Gloss Finish were applied via PC and Uber black I believe at speed 3. After letting the Gloss Finish cure overnight, I applied a coat of Gloss it Concorso the next morning. Total time - 21 hours Enjoy the final pics. Wheels were cleaned with Gloss it Wheel Cleaner at 3:1. Tires were dressed with Optimum ire Shine while the wheels got Blackfire All Metal Sealant. Grill and mesh lowers were dressed with Autoglym Silicone Spray.
Looks great Ken, loving the BBS wheels and the LED tails (would love to get them but major cash). So you could do Uber Yellow/Menz PF and get it pretty close to LSP, just some 106FF needed with a DA? Great job none the less that GI LSP looks great too bad they dont have all 3 in 4oz sample bottles or I may thnk of trying it. Those honeycomb grills are a PITA to dress also. Anyways enough going on...i shall stop now.
i think the reason I have never liked white cars is that I've never seen the paint properly cared for. That GTI looks dripping wet. Excellent work! please do tell how you deal with the honeycomb grills
Dont know if you are asking me or Ken but way I clean mine is using Edge foam sticks, cant find them anymore I dont think, so i take foam sponge and cut it in a square the size of them and spray APC or 1z Plastic Cleaner on the grill and use the foam to clean each opening. Dress it using another foam piece if I am using a liquid of use Megs/Stoners/CG spray dressing that is aerosol (which is what I think Ken may of used dont know which AG product he used). Aerosol stuff works fast and has not soo bad durability. I also once took a metal rod wrapped a MF around it and put it on a drill and went at it. :applause2:
For the upper and lower grills, soak it in APC and agitate with RG 28mm brush. If the openings are large enough, I use a MF washmitt as the nap is quite short and I can a finger into the holes. After drying, use an aerosol dressing like AG Silicone Spray or CG Fade to Black.
Car looks great! It is so cool to read that a person that has thier own store and own lineup of products is using another retailers pads! Way to spread the love man!!!
