3M Compounds and Polishes

I have been here for a while and I noticed nobody using 3m compound and polish or even mentioning using it.. Any comments on the 3m compoundes and polishes? any pros and cons on it to whoever have tried it...?

PROS: I have the 3m swirl remover (US version) and it works really good. the cut is greats when i used it on a orange LC. leaves a very good gloss. It remains its cut.

Cons: not yet noted.

 

I have 3m extra cut for back up and use 3M Ultrafina for finishing. Their swirl remover is sub-par at best.

 

I have some 3M products but just haven't experimented enough with them. I have successfully completed on full paint correction with using just the 3M products but that's just one vehicle, I need to use it lots more to get the hang of them.

So far I'm quite pleased with the 3M products, will make a great back up :thumb:

 

why is it your back up if you don't mind me asking? what's your first choice of compounds and polishes?

 

My go to polish is Menzerna, even if it acts up on me...so far I've been able to adjust and it keeps delivering great results for me. Menzerna is a very impresive formula, I'll be using it for many, many moons to come.

3M is good and it does deliver but I just haven't used it enough that's all.

 

One question: Can you buy 3M polishes through West Marine for the stateside people?? I can't seem to find it anywhere over here... but i've seen something on west marine

I just picked up a gallon of Ultrafina and used it yesterday. It certainly has a longer work time and doesn't dry out and dust like Menz. That was only 1 car, but so far so good.

Someone can tell me something about the abrasiveness of the Ultrafina?

I haven't find any informations about it. A french "professional" told me "It's Just Fillers, any abrasives action" (a pur polish).

Is it correct?

See I too was under the same impresion, but apperently that was the old formula. The new formula has no fillers it behaves quite well. I honestly don't know much about 3M, I've used it once or twice but by no means am I an expert on 3M...so as far as talking about abrasiveness I honestly don't know what to say...I've used it and I couldn't see any fillers...but that's about as much as I can report on the product :shrug:

 

3M ultrafine can`t have mutch cut, it finish of pretty fast. Not like 106FF, that you have to work with and let it break down.

 

It has no fillers and very little cut if any.
