    Read stuff like what?

I for one never want to be treated like a criminal in my own house by the police.

Another criminal maybe. But not by the police.

You maybe willing to give your freedom away in order to be "free" but I (who comes from a communist country) am very sad to see that the US is using the same tectiks communist forced on us.

How do you think cops dealt with a similar issues in the past here?

I guess there is a reason why we don't see ""to serve and protect"" on cop cars anymore.

Hmmm, if you re-read the original post, you will see that the police made it clear what they were doing, why they were doing it and what they were looking for. And they came into the OPs house via an UNLOCKED (apparently) sliding door. Let's see felony suspect seen entering the OPs yard, open door....walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.

While I'm sensitive to your experience, which understandably leads to some mistrust on your part, this is not a police state. Of course there are instances of over reaction by the police, but IMHO the vast majority of cops are trying to do their best in a variety of VERY tense, dangerous, distasteful, disgusting, filthy and horrible places and conditions.

You can read the post a little differently perhaps and see my point. Cops come in, order you to cooperate and explain why. You know you haven't done anything, so you cooperate and eventually things are resolved. And the REAL bad guy was captured. Again, which would you rather have, a crook in your house trying to do you or your family harm or the cops telling you they've seen a bad guy come in to your yard and they're there to find him?

We can agree to disagree on this. As this is what I choose to do. :hippie:

i see where you guys are going with this...i was confused with the whole contraversy..

my dad came up with the same situation..he asked me "did they just come in the house...or did they knock"

...the story is, the police tried to knock on our front door, but it was locked, then (since the perp ran through ourback yard) they searched the back yard...becuase he was in our backyard, they assumed maybe he coulda ran in our house...so they were bangin our sliding door, and as soon as i came out of my room...tats when they rushed in...thinkin maybe i was the bad guy..

my dad (who served in the navy for 20 years) knows the laws and said that technically, if they DIDNT ASK (which they did) they arent allowed to come in our house

but likewise...id rather have 1000 police rush my house tryna look for a bad guy..than have that possiibility that hes in my closet and have no one search

    ...

There ya go. The complete story.....and just as I surmised might have happened, the cops did what they should do. Even under the high stress conditions of chasing the guy, they were clear headed enough to ask permission to enter your house. I think the guys should be thanked, not criticized. We may have reached this point:deadhorse:

    Thanks for the added info.

If you reread instead what I wrote: I said I do not want to be treated like a criminal by the police.

I never said I didn't want cops to come into my house.

"""""""""""""""Cops come in, order you to cooperate """"""""

That is a nice story and that is how it should be done. HOWEVER!!! This is what the OP wrote happend:

**************IM SLEEPING AND ALL I HEAR IS "GET THE **** OUT OF THE ROOM...**********

    That is my issue.

If you think that it is ok to be treated like that?? Be my guest.

As I said we can agree to disagree. The cops had no way of knowing if the person in the bedroom was a resident, or an intruder. Put yourself in their position and post up how you might have reacted if you were in their shoes. Or how would you feel if the person yelling at you were the perp in this case and he was yelling at you and dragging your wife or child with him and he was armed or perhaps holding a knife to his or her throat. You think the perp is going to gently nod you to wake up?

I'm sorry for your experiences that have caused you to feel this way. But have you had any thing like that happen to you in the US? This is a great country and we're all fortunate to live here. If you're unhappy with some aspects of life here, exercise your right to vote.:2cents:

First you don't need to feel sorry for me.

Second, I expressed my feelings about the way the police was conducting their business. I do have that right. Don't I?

I don't appreciate the sarcastic replies. Sorry if you don't like that I don't want the police treat me like a criminal in my own house. That is not the only way to catch the bad guys.

If you love this country so much (I do) remember that we have free speech. I can speak my mind.

On the other hand, I love seeing comments from those very people who don't like opposing opinions yet they point out that this is the USA and what a great country this is. IT IS, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU.

Here in Norway they nock on your door an ask you first.

    Police: Are you a crimnal?
    Norwegian people: No
    Police: Okey.. sorry! Sleep well.

US also spend a lot more money to save animals then we do.

If your cat is gone in Norway... IS GONE!
