Been looking forward to the call for this car for a while now. Chevrolet made some nice upgrades (finally) to the C6 Corvette for 2012, all wrapped up in the new Centennial Edition. There is alcantara on the steering wheel, door panels, shift boot, console lid, and in the center of the seats. A nice welcome touch. The steering wheel got revised controls and a nice chrome trim ring around them along with a special Centennial badge. The seats have the biggest change with MUCH more support and a racier and more upscale look. They no longer feel like flimsy seats from the 1970's. Even the movement of the seat back is much improved. Along with the interior upgrades, it gets a special color called Carbon Flash which is a black metallic, just stunning in the sun. For 2012, standard black is no longer available, and only the Centennial Edition gets the Carbon Flash color, also comes with a special satin stripe package. Along with the color is new wheels and tires. Available in gloss or flat, these wheels are killer looking with the red pinstripe that matches the massive ZR1 carbon ceramic breaks, now wearing red calipers. This one was also equipped with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires which are basically racing slicks and rated at only 3k miles and are BARELY road legal. Finally the fastest corvette comes with tires to match the performance! So here is the top of the line fastest corvette available (for $129,000)...the 2012 Centennial ZR1. Car was extremely dirty upon arrival and with multiple people handling it, it already had a fair share of scratches and marring, also holograms on the hood from someone "attempting" to buff it, presumably at the factory since no one touched it since it arrived at the dealer. A 1 step correction was performed to bring it back and make it look perfect again. Thankfully the marring and scratches were not deep and some Menzerna 106FA took care of them all with the PC on a white LC pad. LSP was Menzerna Powerlock. It also showed up with a twin sister car which will be done later this week. Upon arrival... Scratches.... More scratches.... The carbon fiber roof has seen better days. ....Seeing double.... After 7 hours, the ZR1 was looking dialed in again. Was only able to get 1 sun shot since the sun was setting....
Looks nice Jeff, as one who groans whenever I see someone say on anothers or my write up "I don't like the wheels..." the "Timeattack" stripe and sticker on the carbon hoop have to go, good to see improvements made to a stout car as I know are American companies can build a world class sports car.........they just choose not too in respect to the ZR1 as it is just a little more than a Porsche Carrera s but much less than a Turbo in pricepoint..................put a nice interior in it like many ZR1 owners do by sending it to "Caravaggio" in Canada.

Thanks Bob. I typically don't like the striped wheels, but on this one I do. The 100 years sticker was cool for about 3 min, then got old lol. The Caravaggio seats are the most comfortable racing seats I've ever sat in. Hold better than factory and are more comfortable (win/win). But at least the factory interior has some nice improvements where it doesn't feel quite so...chevy-cobalt-cheap. Hopefully the C7 will raise the standard for American sports cars up to the beautiful European quality you see in Porsche, Audi, Aston, etc...
Great looking Corvette, very tidy. I know they are not cheap cars, but it's just astonishing how dreadful the interior keep being. Might as well belong to a Cobalt.
It's about time Chevy finally addressed the shoddy interiors of the Vette. Nice to see and long overdue
GT-R and then pick up a used EVO or STI for Daily driving, and still have a few thousand left. I still like it though...... very aggressive.
Never thought of it like that....good point. But neither of those cars have an engine note that will scare old ladies in their Buicks lol. Also, I do love the GT-R, but for a stock car, the Z hustled the "Ring" in 7:19. Thats FAST.
I have seen full Alcantara interiors from them............................so Chevy COULD do it, Porsche can do it, Ferrari does it(Of course for a MUCH higher pricepoint) Audi......etc................Corvette guys will send the car there right from dealership and spend 20,000.00- 35,000.00 USD for new gear so Chevy are you listening?, my wife's HHR SS had the SAME steering wheel the Z06 and ZR1 has.............what's wrong with this picture. Btw glad to point this out Hamza7.................
That is true, the note is un deniable, my neighbor has a tuned Z06 and even that thing is wicked..... I really like the new vettes lines, but the sticker price as many point out deserves much more...... still an epic car in my book.
But then the only reason the time improved so much is because of those near slick tires that would only last a a few thousand miles. Sure they are stock, but put them on a GT-R and the time would be bested.
