i would say you can get a uber yellow to finish better than an lc orange, with the right technique and speeds of course. i barely every use orange pads anymore since phil came out with the yellow uber.
It depends on the paint and if you are using a rotary/DA. I know that Ken (911 Fanatic) has mentioned several times that he does most of his one-steppers with a Yellow B&S pad / Powerfinish combo.
I usually get very good results with Uber orange + 203 + Flex 3401 on 1 step jobs. Finishes down fine and seems to have enough cut to get all but the deepest (removeable) scratches out.
I have to say that the orange pad is my least favorite. So stiff, it's like polishing with a loaf of week old bread.
Side question: I thought the Uber orange and the LC orange were the same physical foam (density, etc)
