Hi Guys! I just took delivery of my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in copperhead pearl coat. Looking for the best protection for her and the "wettest" shine i can possibly get. Since she WILL be used off road im looking for protection from minor scratches and im leaning towards Opticoat but my experiences with opticoat is it doesnt bring out the pearl and shine of some cars (IMO) But i think it will give me the best protection from the trails? I have had less then favorable results from Hardbody so im not looking at doing that. Thanks for all your opinions! I guess i am no longer 3PedalMINI any more
I would tell you that if you plan to off road this beauty, you only have 1 option and that is Opticoat. Nothing is even close to as durable and Mar resistant IMHO. I have it on 2 cars for 14+ months and it is still great. These are not garage queens and don't get the most attention but they sure look great and are super easy to clean. The also shine like crazy. There are slicker coating but not more protective coating from my limited experince with a few coatings.
+1 with JSF721 above ! There is nothing better than Opti-Coat in my experiences. Have it on all 3 of the vehicles I used to own including my Black '09 Grand Cherokee which has worn it for 18 months and been driven over 4000 miles during that time in all kinds of weather between the N/W and Texas and back. The Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl paint on my Jeep shows all the beautiful metallic particles very clearly and the gloss is better than anything I have seen.. If you will do the absolutely best prep correction of this paint and further improve the clarity, you will see all of it through the Opti-Coat just fine.. Good Luck with this ! Dan F
Opti Coat is great. My Jeep gets it and put up with some serious "green salt" (brutal mutant stuff) in the winter months here in CT.
With the right prep nobody can tell you OptiCoat doesnt look wet! Another option is a couple coats of Sonax Netshield... beading and self cleaning near a coating just without the extended durability. Definitely good if you want to polish you car every 6mo.
I've found CQuartz Finest to be slightly more resistant to light marring than Opti-Coat and it definitely looks better too. That being said Opti-coat will be more resistant to other elements from what I've seen and you don't have to be an approved installer to get the OC 2.0.
22PLE gets my vote for the wettest shine but like others have said, if you are going to offroad this baby then opti-coat will be supperior protection. If you are just going to cruise around town then definetly go with 22ple.
