What would be a good response to this question?

I've been told this a few times already, when spotted washing/buffing/wiping my cars in my driveway by neighbors/people walking their dogs, etc...

Something to the effect of, "You're at it again? You're going to wipe the paint right off of that thing!"

I just smile and wave for now.

What would be a witty response to this? :)

Sneak up on that person when he/she is making sexy time and yell the same thing...but replace "paint" with "skin."

Not much to say unless you want to tick them off.

You could say...you're at it again too? in reference to walking their dog. (might come off badly).

You could say...This could be your car (in reference to you offering your services).

You could say...I'm training for a karate competition (this one is obvious).

Thank god I don't talk to any of my neighbors so that I don't have to deal with this type of shit.

I usually get "Do mine next" if i'm in a parking lot or something with a lot of traffic and I usually respond with "your not the first person to say that to me" or "sure. for $xx" and get into what I do...if their not interested they usually leave me alone in a matter of seconds, haha

Yeah no kidding. My thoughts exactly. Might not be nice but getting into other people's business is even worse.

Just say "I take pride in my things." They either accept it as a good reason or they take it as an insult... either way it ends the conversation.

tell them you will wash theirs (just the wash) for $100 if it's not too filthy. If not, they don't need to waste your time...

I would be more towards the "**** off" response if it wasn't the first time they said something like that. I can't stand those kind of comments especially when I'm at work and brought food from a restaurant for my lunch, then someone has the balls to lean over my food and ask, "oh whatcha got there?... where's mine?" This question makes me want to club them to death with the closest blunt object.

That is funny you mention them saying that - I first heard those exact words from some yahoos walking by my house decades ago - some things never change ! :)

I think their grandpa/grandma's several generations before said those immortal words to many clueless grandchildren, who are obviously, not car caring people at all, and that is about all they got when they see someone working on improving the look of a vehicle. They dont understand what you are doing, or why you are doing it, and their rides if they have one, are looking like that Honda Civic Interior that was posted earlier today.. :)

Me, I just put on my Ipod and awesome Westone earbuds and tune the static right out!!!!!!!! :)
