Towels for wax/polish removal?

    Hey guys,

I'm currently using Detailed Image All-Purpose Towels for wax and polish removal. While they are fine towels, I'm looking for some better towels for quickly and easily removing waxes and polishes.

I have been closely looking at towels that AG, CG, DD, DI, and PAC have to offer but this still leaves a ton of different options.

Anybody have suggestions from these vendors, or from other vendors I have not yet considered? It seems there are so many options - thick, thin, fluffy, super fluffy, silk border, blah blah blah. No clue what I should be going for in terms of purely buffing waxes and polishes. Please help.

    Thanks,
    Emile

Here is my breakdown of MFs I use for each purpose:

Wax: Uber No Name (first layer) , Rag Shack Ultimate (final layer, reduce static on surface), Uber Blue is also good one

Polish: DD Yellow All Purpose, Rag Shack Super Fly, Cobra 530 (the gray ones)

    Pre-Wax Cleaner: Uber Blue

QD: Rag Shack Super Fly (I only use QD after washing so short nap and bigger towel helps)
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Wax: Short nap (helps reduce static, thus less dust later)

Polish: Med nap, less marring, also spray a shot of Megs Final Inspection for lubrication and does not leave anything behind so nice cleaner of oils

    QD:Med to long nap

I like MF edges rather than silk as I think silk still will mar the paint.

PakShak Ultraplush towels and that is all you need. It makes it easy about towels and you will never need to worry about other choices after using them.

my favorite for wax/polish removal is the DI great white towel. Pretty much the perfect thickness!

So you don't like the DI towels? I was looking at ordering some. Any chance you got snap some pics of them?

I agree with AR that Pakshak towels are the softest I've seen. The Werkstat and PB towels I carry are a close second in my opinion.

I agree with you Ken, the few PB towels I got from you I am still using. I need to give you a ring.

Pakshak White edgeless mf. Most detailers don't remove nuba's the correct way. They get the plushest towel and start to rub the crap out of the freshly applied wax. Using a low nap, but super soft mf is what you need to use. Just wipe enough to get the wax off without trying to wipe it all off. Let it sit in the sun to flow out and the next day give it a wash or QD with ONR. Now get the same mf (store in zip lock bag) and wipe down. This will leave the max. wax on the paint and yet give you the max shine. Fold your ultra white mf in 4ths and you will have 8 sides for wax removal. I normally use two sides for each wax job, thus giving me 4 waxing sessions before washing the mf. MICROPAK 16" x 16" Ultra-Edgeless Micro Fiber Towel

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys.

I do like the DI All-Purpose Towels, they are excellent for the price. I'm just looking for towels that can do better when it comes to removing polishes and waxes.

911Fanatic, I got your e-mail regarding looking into the shipping. I will have to look into the towels you have to offer and see what the deal is.

I'm not ordering anything from Pak Shak. Hawaii is too far way from me in NJ.

And to the OP, I love DI's reTHICKulous towel. My favorite buffing towel for removing waxes.

    Other favorites:

RB super plush towel (actually, I think it's exactly the same as the DI rethickulous, but blue instead of white)

Anything from Justin at ragshack - top notch towels. I especially like the super premiums for polish removal. As soon as he runs another sale, I'll be stocking up even more. I just soaked all of mine in apc solution with some uber blue towels. Now I have tie-dye super premiums.

I have tried quite a few of Justin's mf's, and none of them have disappointed. I have shag rags, super premiums, super fly's, and the general all purpose mf's. All are outstanding.

I started with the Detailed Image ones ... they are nice for most tasks other than paint.

Uber ones are good, but some of them have lint issues which have been reduced by changing the drying technique.

I'm a ragshack convert now ... super flys are amazing!!!

You get your stuff in four days from Pak Shak, but like Ken said his towels are a close second.

Cobra Indigos have been good for me but I've really just been using them to wipe off Meg's UQW (new car), so I'm not sure if that'll be enough to judge on.
