tornador black/7hp 60 gallon 12 cfm @ 90 psi

My friend has a monster of an air compressor and we tried out the tornador black at 90 psi and 125 psi..

Absolutely amazing!

All of my friends have watched me use the optima steamer for cars and engines and they said the tornador is by far their favorite of all my tools/toys. we used it on a black floor matt out of a lexus is300. valve was fully open letting out max chemical solution (ultima interior shampoo gel) and it took everything right out in no time. gave a wipe down with yellow mf towel from costco to make it flush. love it!

Now i just have to buy a new air compressor!

I also would like to get into this routine. But I'am confused on what compressor to buy. Can anyone give me a brand name and tell me what PSI and CFM needs to be to run it properly? Thanks

 

I like the concept but the videos I've seen leave questions. Does the tornador use more or less cleaning solution? When cleaning vertically on a dash or door panels how easy is it to control, does fluid just run everywhere or not?

When u get the tornador u have to tape off all the fittings because it leaks air alot. My friends fixed this with plumbers tape. The other issue is tweaking the solution.

This unit saves u on money because it is more effective at cleaning with far less product

The recommended cfm is 270 L which translates into just under 10 cfm

You can use this unit with any air compressor but it will eat through the air. I have a 4 gallon husky unit now and it runs the black like a champ but Lowes air in only 20 seconds. On the 60 gallon tank I ran it at 125 psi 10 cfm and it took 2 minutes before the compressor had to turn on and it never lost cfm. I ran it real hard too

I bought my optima steamer for $4800 like 3+ years ago, including shipping and taxes. They r now going for +6100. I would hunt around for a used one

godoman, you have a picture of the is300 floormat that you just clean with the tornador and the ultima interior shampoo gel?

 

We were doing it at night so lighting wasn't good for pic. I will bring it over during the day time and video it up here. It sounds like an Uzi at 124!

 

Spoke to my friend about making a video using the black at 125 psi and he is up for it but wont be free to help me with it for three days when he will be replacing the clutch in my s2000.

Just wanted to give a heads up in case some of u r waiting. Anything else u would like to see me use the black on in a video?

I can already tell u that the black is better. Optima is great for lightly dirty cars when doing quick wash and waxes and is amazing on rims. It does engines pretty well but they still need to be regressed first

Given the intense agitation effect of the Tornador the results are predictable as you stated, BUT there is nothing comparable to sanitizing effect of a steamer. Killing odors is a steamer's forte. Unfortunately, both are ear deafening, if not ear damaging owed to the pressure release noise. I'm noticing more detail photographs here exhibiting members using ear protection—a smart move.

I hear ya socal, u r correct there but I am referring to floor matts. I have put burn marks in them before and it can also really dampen the matts.

I will keep comparing the 2 on this but I feel strongly that optima is for exteriors, door jambs, rims, mold build up around window crevices. All this but u still have to use caution around plastic trim or it can and will burn and discolor anything plastic if u get too close with the steam gun (yes, I have dine this too)

 

I'm with you on both conclusions (except there's hope in the interior cleaning with some properly developed attachments) and still want to see the postings here that members have requested in the way of tests because they're cool to compare.

LOL on the steamer...when I first started using a steamer I referred to the initial phase as "The Burning Game" as I literally burned the crap of my hands (a third-degree burn from a high-end steamer is nano seconds in the making) trying stupid things that I thought would be smart ways of accomplishing steam cleaning. Of course, the laws of thermodynamics and physics quickly put me in my humble place. And on dampening the floor matts, yes, depending on several factors, including humidity, it's easy to do. Plus, steamers are perpetual drippers after releasing the trigger—it all an art to be mastered with consequences if you don't.
