The engine bay needs to be CLEAN. That means no spot welds, holes, wires, pipes etc. Just an engine in the middle and everything smoothed, polished, painted or hidden How Smoothed, sanded and seam welded K Frame's Powdercoated K Frames. Paint must be to "exterior" standard. Thermostat housing, ABS bracket Temp Rocker covers ( Making some billet ones) Polished custom clutch res Polished "Ziggy" OTR And lastly Polished Belt Tensioner
Progress shots Main section of the K frame is smoothed and is off for a chemical bath, etching and 3 stage powdercoating. We are doing a silver as the first coat, 2nd coat is a secret atm and then finally a coat of blue over the top. (see test peices at the bottom of this post) I got my coilpack brackets done with this 3 stage proccess with took a while to get right as the colour was hard to match, get the metallic content right and and i wanted a slightly darker blue close to edges with the silver showing through in the open areas. To say the powdercoater went beyond the call of duty is an understatement (DAMN i need to get a decent camera though)
Another update Took the fuel system to bits today. It was covered in heat sheilding (the same stuff thats stuck to the floor near the cat's) and spent a while cleaning it off (ill NEVER use it as heatshields again...eeewww) Fuel system had spent over 12mths under the car so was dirty so i cleaned it. Fuel Pumps (Left is done, right is stock)
The collection is growing.... Done the rear hub's, polished the Twinscrew manifold, polished the Alternator and PS pump etc
See this black stuff under the car... It comes OFF!! With thinners, Bug and tar remover, degreaser and time! And becomes Getting there slowly
You are going to be the new best friend of many people on this board. There are a lot of GTOs here (i have a 06). Awesome project BTW i cant wait to see it finished.
That's absolutely amazing mate! All lot of hardwork, sweat and tears must have gone into this project.:applause:
